Valve is pulling out all the stops to make sure that Left 4 Dead is a huge holiday success, and here's an excellent TV spot which should help ensure that the goal is passed with ease. If you're already getting overexcited for this zombie-themed FPS, then look away now -- you might go into overload.

The guys at Valve clearly know what they have on their hands here -- a game where you can team up with friends and shoot wave after wave of crazed zombies is a game that practically sells itself. All Valve has to do is exactly what this TV spot does -- tell people that there's a zombie apocalypse going down, and they can bring their friends.

These guys have practically got a free pass into top of the sales chart. Jammy bastards.

Looks good. I just can't decide if I should get this for the PC or the 360. Most of my friends own 360s, but I hate playing FPSs (especially multiplayer ones) on consoles.

after watching TF2 not get updated on the 360(and when it did have a price tag on it) i think i'll stick with the PC.

Great trailer, but.

It needed to slowly increase the number. Start with 3 or four zombies, the shot of one punching through the wall, the shot of one being pinned down, maybe a small crowd of them surrounding the four survivors. The music was perfect in establishing the atmosphere as well. But what would have really sold it would have been to have a small pause before a door opens and a flood of zombies pour out onto the group, the music picking up to be louder and rockier than before.

I think I'm going to go and critique my pants now.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a TV commercial for a Valve product. But I guess this is a new IP, so they need to make sure to get word out there. Have fun making money guys. I dunno if I'll buy it now or wait a couple months for it to come down in price on PC...

That's an awesome trailer. Me and my friends are planning on having a Left For Dead party the weekend after it comes out. Just a ton of my friends taking turns with 4 linked up 360's is going to be awesome. Sorry halo, I think zombies are getting ready to tear out your throat.

If I can convince my buddies to get this: DAY FUCKING ONE.

Wow, this is going to be wicked. I am really looking forward to this game.

I am seriously considering buying a second 360 in November so my bro and I can play this with our friends at the same time. I mean, at the price they're moving these days it is a real consideration.

Was the grizzled voice at the end the same VO actor who does the Solider in TF2?
Stahlbrand's Avatar - Comment posted on 10/30/2008 15:04

I would normally go PC, but my bro's PC can't even handle TF2 anymore, and I know my RB buddy is ready for some zombie apocalypse action on the 360, and he's not a PC gamer at all. And the three of us have -got- to play this one together.

Does anybody know if it has splitscreen multiplayer? I'm guessing no, but I can't remember hearing a definitive answer either way. As previously stated 'plan A' is to just to go splits on another console with the bro and call it a holiday season gift to ourselves.

The only thing that would make it better... "Meet The Infected" spots like the Team Fortress 2 shorts. *random gurgling translates to heavy-type of speech 'I am Heavy Tank Zombie...'

Just because I love Valve so much I'll probably end up eventually getting both...just like the Orange Box.

Valve games are the only games I've ever played through more than 3 times.

L4D looks endless, and with friends on PC and 360 there's nothing stopping me.

Why didn't Valve put their name REALLY BIG right after the EA logo? I think they (EA) spend more time figuring out how their logo is gonna look for each game than actually making good games. Dead Space was a miracle.

Anyway, thank God for Steam.
