I keep getting older, but these songs stay the same: new GH2 DLC on XBLM photo

Kotaku (and anyone with a functional Xbox 360) has word that three new downloadable tracks have appeared on the XBLM for Guitar Hero II. The tracks are rehashes from the original Guitar Hero (again), and they retail for the standard, yet exorbitant 500 MS points.

Tracklist? You got it:

(A crap cover band imitating) The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated

(A crap cover band imitating) Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water

(A crap cover band imitating) Judas Priest - You Got Another Thing Coming

It would be cliché of me to insult the song selection here, and honestly, I applaud their choices, but why can't we get some new songs? Remember when Red Octane told us GHII would have more DLC than any other Xbox 360 title? Did they just forget to mention that none of it would be original and the release schedule would be spread out over the course of the remainder of our mortal lives?

Red Octane, you guys used to be about the music, but you CHANGED, man ...

RedOcatne didn't change... they've always been opportunists...

It's that Harmonix left, and all the talent went with them.

I've already played these songs, but a friend of mine with the 360 GHII has not touched any of these songs, especially not with co-op, so I'm sure some people out there are enjoying them.

Harmonix didn't leave, and this has nothing to do with Red Octane. Red Octane worked with Harmonix to create the controller for Guitar Hero and whatnot but Harmonix is the development team behind Guitar Hero I and II. Activision now owns the rights to the Guitar Hero series. It is Activision's fault for not supplying us with more DLC for Guitar Hero II, not Red Octane or Harmonix.

Harmonix has been hard at work creating Rock Band and the new guitar and drums to go with it. Guitar Hero is old news, bring in the Rock Band!

Red Octane made the controller.

Harmonix is who you're thinking about.

I downloaded them because I barely played GH1, so if I had played the first one a lot I wouldn't have downloaded the songs.
