Quantcast

They say that life is like a roller coaster. One week you're way up high, basking in the glory of some awesome games, and the next, you're way down in the doldrums dealing with the ho-hum of mediocrity.

Mega Turrican on the Genesis is a lot like Super Turrican on the Super Nintendo. In fact, in the few minutes that I played, they were surprisingly similar. This is a problem for me. I know a lot of people really love these games, but I find them extremely boring. It's strange because all the elments are there: cool level design, good controls and interesting power-ups. The game just leaves me wanting more.

Nine out of 10 people that watch this video for Fantasy Zone have one of those, "OH MY GOD I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS GAME SINCE I WAS 7!!" nostalgic rush moments. It's been great. I live for those nostalgic rushes. As for the song, I used the game music as direct inspiraton, which used to be the only way I made these videos. The reaction has been so positive, I think I'll return to that style. What do you think?

Yes, yes, Fantasy Zone _IS_ awesomesauce. Turrican? Well, I guess the fun of it was kinda: You Had To Be There. As I recall Turrican was first released on the Amiga, and for the time, it had really awesome graphics, and more sprites on-screen, therefore it was like a real fun shooting Arcade game one could play at home. Alas, I'm sad to say it really doesn't stand out too much now compared to today's offerings u.u The music, your music, is EPIC WIN!!!!

Using the games music directly for the mushroom singdoms is good every now and then but I like that you make up your own songs.

Okay Gamejew, not one of your biggest fans, but ya got me with the Fantasy Zone song. Granted that's a fun tune I've always liked. Though I can't say I have fond memories of playing Fantasy Zone on Master System. The one touch kill system was annoying and t didn't help that the controls were wonky. Alex Kidd was like that as well. Touch one enemy and ya die, wtf? Let us get hit at least once or twice before we perish. Wouldn't you agree Mr. Jew? But yeah back to the song. Nice job, now write lyrics to this Tokyo Highway Battle track.

My kiddo loved the Fantasy Zone song, great job! Looking forward to hearing what you do with River City Ransom. I like when you use the game music as inspiration myself, assuming there's something good to work with in the first place.

That was really good. Nice work. I have fond memories of Fantasy Zone. Wasn't big on Mega Turrican the game, and the song pretty much explained how boring the game is, so I don't fault the song there, lol.

As far as using the game music for song inspiration, I say that you should judge it on a case by case basis and decide that way. I mean, if the game's song sucks or it just doesnt work then make your own and if you hear it and are inspired then fold it in. I really enjoyed it so I say if it works, go with it.
