Hyperkin's new RetroN console will also support Famicom

Mar 25 // Jordan Devore    @DtoidJordan

Along with a new name

Ahead of release, Hyperkin's upcoming RetroN 4 console has become the RetroN 5. With the change comes increased support: the new system count is NES, Famicom, Super Nintendo, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive, and Game Boy Advance (plus Color and original Game Boy). That and the 720p HDMI output sounds nice on paper, at least.

According to Slashdot, the company hopes to release the RetroN 5 this July for under $100, and there will be an option to "render audio at a higher output frequency." We've also gotten our first look at a mock-up of the hardware, shown above. All of the bells and whistles are nice, but it really comes down to game compatibility first and foremost.
