They are making a "the thing" prequel? Sounds interesting, didn't hear about it. Things like this really make me want to save up for a decent rig. Mine is totally poo for games. I can't even run fable TLC at a half decent framerate. Yea, its that bad. I just rely on my consoles for games. Oh, and I REALLY wanted to play amnesia as well.
Although a game based on The Thing would be awesome if done right, imagine one person being 'it' out of a large group, and have several objectives you need to split off into groups of two or three to complete, never knowing if one of your partners is 'it', always watching your back while trying to complete a task...could be good.
I kind of want to try this. The Thing game from 2002 wasn't all that bad, and you could have a lot of fun with dog things and doing blood tests.

I loved.... hell I love that movie so much ........ not sure they will be able to do it justice either in the game or the prequel.....
First there remaking John Carpenter's remake of The Thing (The Thing is based off a short story novel).
That remake movie looks horrible. Not of them look like scientist, they looked like they just got out of a tanning bed. There also showing in previews people being taken (there's no more guessing). I won't support this remake movie or this MMO, just another cash grab it seems.
The Thing is my favorite horror movie of all time. Almost all of John Carpenters movies are some of my favorites. No Kurt Russell or Keith David bah.

I rather liked the PS2/Xbox game "The Thing", which was narratively a sequel to the first film. It had some neat ideas and at least tried to capture the paranoia of the film. Definitely gonna check this out.
@salamagogo At least your computer did not turn all of the grass into a white snowy like texture and the water got turned into piss yellow. It looked like the Gods had used the ocean as a urinal and everything felt cold and warm at the same time. Ahh, good times.
Can't wait for the prequel, considering I watch the original a few times a year. Comes out on my b-day (10/14) and has Ramona for Scott Pilgrim in it. Plus, the PS2 game was fun.

In the preview they were international scientist? In the original movie the scientists from Norway found it. Sounds even worse now.

I am intensely interested in seeing how this turns out.
The prequel movie, less so. They added in explosions and guns instead of tension it looks like, and we already know the Kurt Russel kills everyone at the end.

i didnt hear about the new movie till a few days ago when i saw the trailer on tv.
The Thing is one of my top 5 movies. a prequel is a cool idea, seeing what happened to the scientists after digging up the alien. etc. but i can only assume the woman survives even though they all died in the first one.

This sounds like it has potential but my magic 8 ball is pointing to "will be shit" currently.

I am soooo pumped for the remake of The Thing, literally freaked out when I saw the preview in the theater and none of my friends had no idea what movie it was, they are no longer my friends...lol

I have played 'the thing' on ROCKtropia and is very good. They have stuck to script, the artic look fantastic and the music is like some thing out of Resident Evil. It took me a hour to complete the missions. You get free weapons, a jeep and chopper at the end. This give you a free look into Entropia universe. With it expanding all the time i would reconmend have a look.
