That's good to see. Hopefully Sony will follow suit. I can't wait for all this to work out. I know there are serious problems here. Hell I am constantly checking on my card, but all this talk about the outage and private data has quite frankly exhausted me. I know it makes me sound cold and that I don't understand the gravity of the scenario but I can't help but feel that way

Pretty good to hear. BTW, as to what Sony themselves will do for their customers, they released a statement yesterday that said they were aware that we're asking, and they'll let us know after the service is back up. I find that fair since it's hard to determine what you should do for people until you know the full extent of how bad the situation is (as in, how long the service will be down once everything is said and done).

So far, still pretty ok with how this situation has been handled. I accept their explanation of why PSN is down, I accept their explanation of why they informed us when they did of the potential personal information breech, and I accept that they'll make it right in the end. Until I'm given a reason to doubt that, I choose to continue to believe it. If my faith ends up being misplaced, then I'll accept the responsibility of having been gullible.

You have to already be a subscriber. They're giving a one-week credit on your bill, which comes up to 2 bucks. They're not just going to give 2 dollars to you for being a great guy. ;)

Faith by definition is the belief in something which cannon be verified. When placing blind faith in something that has actual consequences (identity theft), you would do well to be a little more discerning.

They should give normal PSN peoples a week of Hulu. Those who like it will get hooked, and pay for it, and everyone will be grateful. This is a prime opportunity, Hulu!

@amtalx: Tristrix is putting his faith in Sony not being a douche and acting reasonably, not...identity theft? What does that even mean, putting faith in identity theft?

BTW, there's a difference between faith and blind faith. Faith is something that cannot be verified, blind faith adds that there isn't evidence to support the faith claim. The difference being that faith can be circumstantial or can have inconclusive evidence despite not being verifiable.

Completely awesome gesture on Hulu's part. I can still watch Hulu Plus on my PC and through PlayOn, but I prefered watching it through the PS3 app. Nice that they'd do something like this, when they're at absolutely no fault.

That's pretty cool of them - Netflix always does this with XBL outages so I expect them to do it as well.
