FFXIII is literally a digital vagina. You can't even summon Odin without the screen being a aflush with rose pedals and pms.
It's pathetic. Shame on everyone who watches the XIII-2 trailer and possibly pretends it looks even remotely better than Gilmore Girls.
I've never seen The Secret Life of the American Teenager, but is summoning Odin while being aflush with rose pedals and pms a thing that happens on that show?
So what you trying to say is that Final Fantasy games are now as girly as attending a tea party? You hear that Square? People are calling you sissy now.
Stop being racist, asshole. Not everything has "American" style. Expand your horizons, or deal with your closeted sexual issues.
I guess its the same thing as a buddy of mine trying to defend narutos "awesome" storyline.
Still, its sad to watch all the same.
Oh, cool, so then we are all in agreement the story was bad then? If so then sorry about that old chap.
FFXIII is the opposite. It's so blatantly straight forward that you hope for a clever spin somewhere and just realize nope, it was just asinine. I'm all for drama and forced romance (FF8 and FF12 are my two favorite FF's for this reason) but XIII, like it's FFX-2 cousin, are so over the top campy, they are the stuff Mystery Science theater 500 will inevitably make fun of in the future.
That's funny you mention that, I was going to refer to David Lynch
But even when Lynch's movies devolved in ovrrcomplicated shenanigans, all it takes is for someone to tell you he's trying to direct these movies the way you have dreams for them to become that much more enjoyable and watchable.
I dunno, what Lynch does is art, what a lot of anime inspired stuff does is pretty. They're the same, but different.
It also might be entirely possible that I just enjoy dark themes if they are to be convoluted ones. Lighter convoluted themes look, well, like the Gilmore girls or dragonball. Take that how you will.
Even XII, loved it or hated it, was different. It was so unusual and ambiguous that you still don't even know if the villain was really a villain. People thought it was boring, I thought it was down to earth, and I sunk 130 hours into it.
But all these KH games, FFXIII, FFXIV, soon FFXIII-2...they are so over the top formulaic that they are literally drowned in their own mediocrity. It's like SE sees how much the world loved FFX when they still mattered as a company, and they have been cross breeding that idea with itself for so long that the incestuous offspring can't even stand on it sown misshapen legs (gross).
If they changed their corporate culture, they could make more than one high profile game every half decade. If they made more than one game every half decade, they could stand to take more risks and not play it overkill on the same time tested and trendy forumla. Then we wouldn't be talking about how SquareEnix's best game in years was actually Eidos's Deus Ex.
That's one of Japan's biggest problems; its dialogue. The problem is that characters will more often than not say everything it is that they are thinking. Maybe it comes from technical limitations if not being able to portray emotion through gestures, although it appears other games have addressed this issue alrwady
