How to tell if NES game Stadium Events is worth thousands photo

I never knew this. Stadium Events, that rare NES game by Bandai, could be kinda...not...rare if you get the PAL version. The NTSC version hit the US, but then was discontinued, making it more rare. Blog Video Game Price Charts lays it all out with a diagram. Long story short? If the name "Stadium Events" is all on one line, it's the rare NTSC version, being worth up to $13,00 if complete. The PAL one has the name split over two lines. Even complete, the latter is worth hundreds, and not thousands.

Pop Quiz!

Now take what' you've just learned and tell me if this eBay auction is worth the current bid price of $7,100.

I would never pay over $50 for a NES game (more like $5 in honesty), but for those that would, this is nice to know. Thanks for the education, JJ.

Yeah, the amount some people are willing to spend for old games (or just things in general, really) just shocks me sometimes.

I don't get it--do the people who buy these things buy them to PLAY them or do they buy them to have something expensive to one day SELL to some other sucker?

Frugal gamers help me out here.

Well... shucks... I wanna go back in time and stop myself from throwing out all those boxes. I'm sure at least a couple of my games would have been worth a couple hundred bucks.

So no-one's gonna PM that high bidder and tell him he's buying a [comparative] dud?

No videogame is worth thousands. Not even SMB3.

Then again, some assholes sold their launch PS3s on eBay for much more when they first came out. People with rich parents can eat a dick as far as I'm concerned.

That bitch that sold her old NES for like $14,000 seems to have started a craze.

@falinter
I actually would, but I've had a right royal cockup of affairs with using my UK account overseas that I'd rather not repeat.

In fairness though, the original owner might not know himself that it's not genuine.

hahahaha, $7,000 for the current bid!? That dude's getting fucked. Yes, I can assume it's a guy, because I could never see a woman forking over that kind of cash for plastic. Oh, wait...

It really makes me sad that so many people can't seem to grasp the concept of collecting things. Some baseball cards are old and hard to find and are therefore worth a ton of money. The same applies to a lot of other things.

People collect things because it makes them happy.

Well, at least the seller has their butt covered by saying it's the PAL version. One would expect that if you're willing to pay that much money you'd know the difference. Oh well.

I wish I had $7000 just sitting around. I sure as hell wouldn't spend it on a single game, no matter how old and special it might be.

Great article. Wow, the ones bidding on PAL versions are throwing their money away.

Looks like another one is being bid up on Ebay. $9,900 in less than 12 hours. This one is NTSC and is factory sealed. Wonder what that is going to go for? I assume if it is sealed that it could go for a crazy amount...?

Wish I would have saved my boxes!

I'm with Brlito. The only way to stop it is to report the item. Tho Scotty also has a point.

Looks like some bids were taken back, as the price is down to $2,225.
