Last Friday, I was invited out to EA Studios down in Redwood to get my hands on Battlefield: Bad Company. I'll be bringing you my hands-on impressions of the game this Friday along with a video interview with Jamie Keen, producer on Battlefield: Bad Company.
Until then though, I present to you the five unlockable weapons that everyone was making a giant stink about just a couple of weeks ago. In order to get all five of the extra weapons, you'll have to participate in various marketing programs.
The first unlockable weapon is for the Recon class and is for this high-powered sniper rifle, which is in the above video. I was given the unlock code needed for this rifle and I plan on giving the code away around the time the game comes out.
Hit the jump to check out other four weapons in the Find All Five quest for Battlefield: Bad Company.
Support class with machine gun. To get this gun, all you need to do is sign up for the Battlefield newsletter and you'll receive your unlock code.
Assault Class with automatic. To get this gun, you'll need to register your Battlefield soldier's name on the Battlefield Web site.
Specialist class with submachine gun. Simply download the demo for Bad Company when it comes out and you'll get this submachine gun.
Demolition class with automatic Shotgun. Just check your Bad Company stats online at launch and you'll get this gun.
Now if you're really lazy and don't want to have to do any of these things, you're in luck. At some point down the line after the release of Battlefield: Bad company, EA will just give these guns to players. The exact specifics of when or how the guns will be available weren't given out, but rest assured that everyone will get these five guns whether they participate in the marketing campaigns or not.
I hope this game turns out good though...
It's also kind of a horrible idea and I hope EA dies in a fire for segregating players between those who "have" and those who "have not." E-peens are not things you want to allow players to have. E-castration is a must. I guess EA stands for E-peen Anonymous? *facepalm* (I truly apologize for that joke.)
But, hell, at least it's better than paying for them.
"At least it's better than paying for them"
That's how it starts. I think we, as responsible gamers who demand quality, shouldn't go near crap like this with a 10 foot pole.
+ more damage
- lower rate of fire"
lower rate of fire? really EA? for the Machine gun? ummm.. you might want to check that.
Just give them to us. It's not like this game is going to be anything near extraordinary anyway
This statement makes no sense:
"I don't understand why extra weapons should be unlockable at all."
I mean...do you mean that no one should get these guns other than the people that do the required tasks, or do you mean that you should have them automatically without unlocking them at all.
If you mean "have them automatically", how is that extra? It is a bonus. Sheesh, people.
If that is not what you mean, carry on.
I'd gladly pay for guns IF the game was cheap
I'd gladly fill out surveys and whore out my email IF the game was cheap.
AFAIK, the games that have proven the micro-transaction concept all do things like that. And frankly, people consider that to be a fair trade-off.
wait for it
wait for it...
Bad Company! I just thought of that one. Pretty good huh
From a tech point of view, this is as technologically advanced on consoles as Crysis is on PCs. Look into everything. That, and the gameplay is gonna be kickass!
waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait... wut no
I believe these were the weapons they were planning on charging people for.
Don't mind the way they're handing these out. It's just good marketing at the beginning followed by everyone getting it. Do have a problem with paying for new guns down the road, though. That's just money-grubbing business there.
