House of the Dead gore to be as 'extreme as possible' photo

Good news, gore whores! In keeping with its promise to deliver the "hardcore you've been waiting for" on the Wii, The House of the Dead: Overkill is hoping to be as gory as possible. Developer Headstrong is prepared to disregard the censors and deliver something truly splat-tacular on the Wii.

"We're not brutalizing any minorities. It's good fun, tongue in cheek - nothing you wouldn't see in a movie," explains producer Neil McEwen. "We've really not restrained ourselves in any way. We want to go all guns blazing and make it as extreme as possible almost.

"Sometimes we've gone 'ooh, we shouldn't really do that', but then we've gone 'no, hell yes we should'. There's no reason we shouldn't do this stuff, it's not exploiting anyone."

McEwen also addressed the ridiculous outrage over Sega's other gory Wii game, MadWorld, applying the "controversy" to his game:  "I think it's just a story for the tabloids. Nothing we're doing in our game hasn't been done in a movie before. It's undoubtedly an 18 certificate game. We've put censorship badges and warnings all over it. It's not the sort of game I'd give to my Gran."

Lord knows we need more titles on the Wii that aren't for our Grans.

The gory approach isn't going to do a whole lot for Silent Hill's undead nurse fetish crowd.

Is that a jab at RE with the minorities thing?

Wiiless Gorehound here. Looks fun and I would be happy to see a game that isn't for kiddies or grammy.be produced on the Wii. Now if only we could convince Nintendo to make enough systems for everyone, and drop that damn price!

There's a big difference between being gory and being an actual good game.

Gore adds to the fun. You can excuse certain glitches and mistakes when you can blow something head apart, or put a hole in the head of someone and then wave to their friends on the other side.

I just want someone to update all the machines around the world so I don't have to look at House of the Dead games with people with triangle hands and box heads from N64 era.

I tried making the characters in my game gory even though they're all clip art. It's harder than it looks.

I love this game. It doesn't matter that I have yet to play it, I still love it.
