SEGA's first-person arcade horror shooter series, House of the Dead, is getting more of the HD treatment as the publisher has announced today that the third and fourth installments in the series will be coming to PlayStation Network. House of the Dead 3 will hit first, arriving on February 7th, with House of the Dead 4 due to arrive this Spring.
Both games are going to be all polished and shiny with updated HD graphics and will, naturally, support the PlayStation Move. This will mark the first time House of the Dead 4 has ever even appeared on a home console, which is good because by the time it released in 2005 there were hardly any arcades left to find one in here in the States.

Meet the rest of the team
I've actually played House of the Dead 4 in the arcades. It's really not worth it. If this included 1 and 2, as well, I'd be all for it. As it stands, these are the two worst games in the series.
VF Final Showdown and HOTD4 finally coming out of the arcades in the same year, following up on the Daytona re-release last year, greatness. Gives me some hope for Sega's other long lost arcadish hits.. one in particular actually..
that started on the Dreamcast..
had unprecedented graphics at the time..
really engaging QTE..
strong emphasis on East Asian culture..
with a vast world to explore, full of secrets and new allies (or even rivals) to meet..
and then the following game was on the original Xbox..
the saga must continue!
Sega, for crying out loud, give me the third installment of..
JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
*backrow boos loudly*
Wait, what was I meant to say?
@Sir Tobii
I don't know for sure since I don't have the PS3 version yet, but I'm pretty sure the Guncon 3 bundled with Time Crisis 4 works with HOTD Overkill, if so, don't see why they wouldnt include support for these.
Why do they keep releasing part 3? It is my least fav out of them all. And I guess we will see the original return the same day that Shenmue 3 releases...
4 was alright, nothing special, 3 was about the same. I might pick this up but lack of a physical release is a bit of a deterrent for me. I don't see why they're throwing 3 into the mix, that's already been released on Xbox and Wii.
Why not throw in the first? That one, correct me if I'm wrong, was only released on the Saturn, and it's not easy to find.
AND FFS WHERE IS JET GRIND RADIO HD ALREADY, SEGA?
The Playstation Move is miles more comfortable and versatile than the Wii, I would recommend it to anyone. The Wii is not capable of handling House of the Dead 4. We all knew it was more than likely going to go to the PS3 if it got a home release at all, considering the 360 has no lightgun peripheral.
If you insert more money to continue at a rail shooter you are the epitome of a "casual gamer". Rail shooters get a lot of shit for being easy and simplistic, and this is generally by people who have never taken the time to fully appreciate them and actually beat them.
House of the Dead is never "cheap", it can be punishingly hard at time, but never cheap. I can easily finish House of the Dead 1 through 3 without continuing, and if I could spend more time with 4 I would most likely be able to complete it as well.
If you continue when playing rail shooters, you do not really love rail shooters.
I already have House of the Dead 2 and III Return on Wii, and a (ahem) copy of Overkill on Wii. I'd only really get 4. If an Overkill 2 or new HotD comes out, then I'll consider Move, until then, it just isn't' enough.
The Guncon 3 doesn't work on House of the Dead Overkill or Dead Space Extraction, I wouldn't hold your breath.
I was pissed about it to, until I used the Move and found out how much of an immense improvement it is.
House of the Dead 4 runs on the Lindbergh arcade board, which is similar to the Playstation 3, so porting it to the PS3 was easy. I am surprised they didn't do this when Namco ported Time Crisis: Razing Storm from their System 357 hardware, both boards resemble PS3.

Why not 1? What does everyone have against the first HotD game? It would have been so easy to include it on the Wii 2 & 3 collection but no, and now 3& 4. I just want consistency damn it!!!
all this time i've been waiting for HoTD 4 on the Wii after buying 2&3 return; instead I get the lukewarm but charming overkill.
selling this on psn is useless, who's gonna buy a move just for these two games (not used/or on craigslist) when there's a whole audience with wiimotes ready to exercise their trigger fingers?

...wait, PSN? So I guess I need to buy a PS Move then after all, was hoping I could avoid that. Why not Wii SEGA, why not Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!?
Give me no online pass and I'm sold
Lol, goddammit, you're right...used it is
Are these not coming out on XBLA as well?
I wanna play House of the Dead 4 so bad! I really dont want to buy a PS3 just to play one PSN game.
I have 2 & 3 for both xbox and wii and they are awesome.

I just hope they're not arcade perfect ports, designed to be cheap as shit and suck all your quarters lol

Won't be quite the same without the shotgun or Mac-10, but the sharpshooter should satisfy.
I would've bought that Cabela's Big Hunts lightgun for XBOX just to play this :\
