House of the Dead 2 & 3 is officially coming to the Wii -- Looks like poop photo

According to Spanish gaming site, Revogamers, (thank God I learned how to read Spanish with my DS) House of the Dead 2 and 3 is coming out for the Wii early next year. Kotaku backs this up with the official press release they got from Sega too (which is after the jump). The game is officially going to be called House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return, will use the Wii Zapper and you can check out some of the screens at Revogamers.

It's bad enough that the Wii is flooded with PS2 ports but at least those games look somewhat good. I really have a hard time believing that these are the actual graphics that we will be seeing for this game. Then again, there has been worse crap on the system that people seemed to have adored

SEGA ANNOUNCES THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2 & 3 RETURN FOR THE Wii

Horror Arcade Game to Bring Non-Stop Shooting Action

SAN FRANCISCO & LONDON (November 15, 2007) - SEGA® of America, Inc. and SEGA® Europe Ltd. today announced that THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2 & 3 RETURN™ is coming to the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo. Combining two arcade games, THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2™ and THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD III™, this new compilation gives gamers the full arcade experience of battling hordes of rabid zombies in the comfort of their homes.

In THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2 & 3 RETURN, players will be able to play both versions of the game, battling the relentless attack of the blood thirsty zombies with steady aim and a quick trigger finger. Utilizing the innovative new Wii Zapper™ or the Wii Remote™ and Nunchuk™, players will experience branching storylines with over six game modes including Arcade Mode and Time Attack modes that will test their shooting skills. THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2 & 3 RETURN features an engaging single-player campaign, plus a co-op multiplayer mode for up to two players for countless hours of zombie shooting action.
"THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD franchise has been revitalized for today's gamer looking for non-stop shooting action on the Wii," said Rick Naylor, Director of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. "This will take gamers back to experience the celebrated first-person arcade shooter that was so popular in the late '90s."

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD franchise is famous for its heart-pounding pace, astounding visual details and vast armies of unique enemies. Blasting through legions of grotesque zombies and mutated monsters, players eventually face-off against mammoth boss creatures that will test the accuracy and skill of every Wii gamer.

But the graphics for House of the Dead 2 always looked like poop. I'm sure it's just going to be a direct port.

If it's anything above £20 then it's a big no buy.

House of the Dead games have always looked like poop. And static screenshots tend to make these games look much worse than they do in motion. Better be a budget title though.

How old is HotD2? Of course it's going to look like poop.

Elebits was very good.

Speaking of poop, people are asking for the original HotD. Do they really want worse visuals than these?

Sorry, but unless the games are enhanced remakes, AND they look like that, this is not a legit complaint about the game.

Old games look old. Alert the internet.

Also, is it just me or does that post to the direct left of the chainsaw weilding smurf with a shrunken head look oddly well-textured?

God, I was hoping for HotD4. Still, HotD2 and HotD3 will do. As for bitching about the graphics, c'mon...it could've been much, much worse: We could've gotten HotD(1).

kevinski, hod4 is going to the ps3 instead. it was a little hard for me to believe at first, but hod4 is a little too advanced for wii's hardware.

Unless this is going to have extra features, then it'll just be a port of the Xbox House of the Dead 3 (in which the main attraction was actually the full Dreamcast version of House of the Dead 2 as an unlockable, House of the Dead 3 was just some random filler, pretty much).

Except it'll be even worse, because if it's on the Wii they won't even bother with a light gun. Light gun > mouse aiming.

@Gamechamp:

You... do know the wiimote doubles as a lightgun, right? (See also: Ghost Squad -- granted I haven't checked it out yet.) I think it's safe to say it'll play just fine.

I'm really hoping the controls work well, since I've been meaning to grab them for other consoles and I know that conventional light-guns aren't going to work forever with new HDTVs and stuff. That will be the deciding factor for me. Also, why no House of the Dead 1?

I have House of the Dead 2 on Dreamcast and I KNOW it looks better than this.

House of the Dead 2 looks pretty much the same (shitty textures and all). House of the Dead 3 looks like ass.... I think.

Didn't HOTD3 on xbox come with HOTD2 as a unlockable?

Simple solution: stop being cheap and making crappy ports.

No, wait. That doesn't work. People still buy it. It really is the customer's fault in the end.

Anyway, my biggest complaint about Elebits was not that it looked underwhelming, but that it had major framerate issues, too. Come on, regardless of hardware power, there's no excuse for games to run at less than 60 FPS. I wonder if HOTD will fall into that pit, too.

HotD2's appeal is not in the graphics. It's in the insane Engrish voice acting.

But they“re ZOMBIES!!! WTF more dou you want. While the obvious zombie shooter is Umbrella Chronicles, the actionof HOTD was always more frantic.

Quite probably it“ll be cheap price, lije Ghost Squad. I am going for this... ah, my high school...

Besides, it looks bad because by porting the game to a system with more lines of resolution makes it look chopped up. In other words, and quite ironicallu, the Wii is so good the game looks bad.

Sega brought this out for their arcade fans. Obviously your not going to get it if you weren't a fan of it in the first place. If Nintendo would just release a hard drive and put arcade games on their VC there wouldn't be this problem...
