Hothead's DeathSpank spanking death on July 13 photo

Hothead Games’ action role-playing game DeathSpank will be available for download on July 13, says its publisher, Electronic Arts. Rejoice! The title will be available for Xbox LIVE Arcade (on July 14) and PlayStation Network for $14.99 (1200 MS Points).

The loot-a-thon hack-and-slash was developed under the watchful eye of Ron Gilbert, the creator of The Secret of Monkey Island. You know what that means? It’s a safe bet that it’ll bring the funny, along with a ton of weapons, puzzles, and other stuff that you can hope will make it a fifteen dollars well spent.

Not sold yet? The game also features cooperative play on a single console, so you can hack, bash, and loot with a buddy from your couch.

I thought July was entirely devoted to the Summer of Arcade promotion on Xbox Live. This game definitely wasn't listed as being a part of that.

Funny, Dragon quest nine is released a day before my birthday and this is released the day after. Pretty convenient that is.

Revolutionary: Assume again, this one is offline only. I think it's time to draw the line and just say no to offline coop only for $15. This is the 21st century, for $15 we should be able to play online.

People complain about lack of offline co-op and now a game comes along that has offline co-op and complaints turn to lack of online co-op.

Is it so much to ask for both, lolipantsu?

And no PC version = no purchase for me, sorry Hothead. Not to mention - the creator of one of the most beloved PC games of all time (Monkey Island) making a new game that is a combination of that game and another of the most beloved PC-only games ever (Diablo), which also spawned the really popular PC-only Torchlight... and it's NOT on PC?! Nice going, EA.
