Hotel Dusk getting sequel, The Last Window photo

Hotel Dusk really was a great little game. It took everything you loved about old school adventure games and made it all look like an A-Ha video. What wasn't to love? If you're one of those who gave the game its cult following, we've got good news for you -- sequel time!

The Last Window: Midnight Promise is a followup to Kyle Hyde's original adventure. Developed again by Cing, it's set in LA during the 1980s and will see Hyde return and possibly meet an adult Ashley Mizuki Robbins from Trace Memory. It will once again be for the DS and is due to hit Japan on January 24, 2010.

Awesome. Now what about our localized version?

It seems developers have becoming more unimaginative with names for their games.
I mean The last Windows?I can think better names than that.
Lets say
The Last Sidewalk:Daily Cracks
The Fringe:Refilling
or a bazzilion names better than that

Uggh, TheLegendaryMan is such an unimaginative name!

Anyways, I'm looking forward to this now.

Freaking hell yeah! I really love Cing's adventure games.

Hotel Dusk ended with a strange sort of cliffhanger because they didn't explain much certain whys in it, I am glad they did not end it just like that.

On a serious note, it would seem that we will be controlling Hyde in a city instead of a hotel, which will make things a little less claustrophobic. They did the same thing with the new Another Code game where Ashley is out and about instead of being closed in like the first game. Shame it's not on the Wii though as the style of Another Code: R is amazing (and Ashley is hawt).

Damn so awesome. I still need to beat the first game though. I was almost done with it, then all of a sudden the hinge on my DS broke and I lost all inspiration to finish it.

"Awesome. Now what about our localized version?"

This is exactly what I though the second I heard about this. Don't get me wrong, HD125 is my favorite DS game, but NOA has a nasty habit of not releasing Nintendo's own titles lately. I hope the new Hotel Dusk doesn't go the way of the new Trace Memory.

Jam.
I almost picked up a DS just for Hotel Dusk.
But then, finances. Damn you, finances.

"I hope the new Hotel Dusk doesn't go the way of the new Trace Memory."

That would definitely suck, but at least since on the DS if it got a European release it would be possible to import it.

Oh snap. As amazing as the game was, I never really thought a sequel would happen. The first was a great example of how a novel can be a game, so I have no doubt the second will continue that.

Wait, it is illogical to see an Ashley Mizuki as adult on the 80s, she was born in 1991 in the month and day of the date registered of the player.

I wonder if they'll keep the same visuals and/or gameplay style. The original was a great game.

God I don't get the love for Hotel Dusk. Awful writing and puzzle design the primarily involved going back to locations aimlessly whenever the time change. The game engine was awesome though.

Freude, schöner Götterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium!
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Himmlische, Dein Heiligtum.
Deine Zauber binden wieder,
Was die Mode streng geteilt,
Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
Wo Dein sanfter Flügel weilt.

Seid umschlungen, Millionen!
Diesen Kuß der ganzen Welt!
Brüder, über'm Sternenzelt
Muss ein lieber Vater wohnen!

How could there be an adult Ashley in the 80s? That's stupid.

Hopefully this will get a release unlike the second Trace Memory game.

I was so excited on seeing this that I actually made an account here. Hurrah! I also wanted to share some information on that tidbit about Ashley's appearance.

I haven't found any information about Ashley being in Last Window; I think that's a misconception, and the only official information about Kyle and Ashley meeting in another game is from a recent interview with Cing, in which one of the game developers states that she'd "like to see an older Kyle Hyde, all sobered up and acting cool, have an encounter with a grown-up Ashley who is much more positive than when she is just a young girl", as the games take place in the same world, apparently. That doesn't mean they'll actually meet each other in this game, however; that really wouldn't make sense.

Here's the interview so that you can see the quote in context. The interview was actually linked to in Siliconera's post: http://www.cubed3.com/news/13027
