You have to be a special kind of gaming geek to get excited about a new trailer for a game called Dragon Quest 5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride. If you frequent Destructoid, you'd know that our offices are full of this special kind.
When this new video for the upcoming DS game hit our offices, our very own Chad Concelmo exclaimed, "SO EXCITED!" I followed that with a "Me too, Chad!" Then Colette chimed: "Me three! Woo!" Finally, Jim followed up, asking, "Is this where we go for the splooge party?"
"Yup. Please place your jacket on the bed," Chad replied.
Why are we so excited? Well, for one, it's Dragon Quest. More importantly, this game, a Super Famicom refresh, is making its US debut on the DS. And this new version looks fantastic. Oh, and did I mention that you get married?
It's like Phantasy Star III, minus the suck.
Who else is in on this geeky splooge party?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Fuckin' geeks!
...I love you guys
I LOL'd
I played this about eight years ago on my NOT computer when NOT hackers translated the NOT rom into english. It's worth playing as an old school RPG and as a DQ game.
The marriage thing in the original was kind of biased. While you had a choice, the game REALLY wanted you to pick particular person to marry. One of the choices totally sucked as a character while the other was actually decent. I don't know if they fixed the balance in the DS version.
There's also the third woman that they added as a choice for this version also, which could be interesting.
This pre-dates Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger is like Dragon Quest, not the other way around.
Also, I'm down for a splooge party.
Akira Toriyama does the character designs for both... and wrote Dragon Ball Z.
I'm spending my days playing Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker while waiting for this game to hit stores... only a few more weeks!!!
@ naia-the-gamer:
I was wondering about the whole marriage thing. Even from just reading a synopsis of the game, I think I have a pretty good idea who the game wants you to marry (it's Bianca, right?)... I've seen images of the third and new bride, and man, she looks... like a girl you don't wanna bring home to mother... or Papas, in this case.
@ MrSadistic:
I know that's not what you meant, but "bonar" sounds hilarious. Like... a dick-radar or something...
I'm up for the DQ splooge party. I would like my DS fixed first.
Yeah, it's actually funny.. PSIII was my introduction to the series and my second traditional RPG ever (after Final Fantasy.. I think I played Dragon Warrior but didn't beat it until later).
I then bought 4 and 2 and *cough*didn'temulate*cugh* the first one, and I realized how terrible 3 was next to the others. PSIV is still my favorite.. even if it is a little easy.
