Hot downloadable Atlus action on PlayStation Network photo

Things have been kind of slow. Sony's over here pushing downloadable games for their new fancy PSP, but they're not working on pumping out that back catalog fast enough. And some third-party publishers? For shame! It's easy money, people. You just hit that "make downloadable" button, perhaps discount the price a bit, and get ready to collect your money. What the hell is taking so long?

Well, at least Atlus is on the ball. In the most recent batch of new PSP games to become downloadable, several Atlus titles were listed. I made you a little list:

  • Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament ($29.99)
  • Hammerin’ Hero ($19.99)
  • R-Type Command ($14.99)
  • Crimson Gem Saga ($29.99)
  • Riviera: The Promised Land ($14.99)
  • Yggdra Union ($14.99)

Combine these pretty hip titles with the newly released Half-Minute Hero, and you've got a pretty good lineup for RPG fans.

Alright, now we're talking!

I'm glad that some of these titles are actually cheaper than the UMD version as well. Just bought R-Type Command and Yggdra Union again.

Yggrda Union caught my eye when it first came out, but I was a little strategy-RPG'd out at the time. That's a lot cheaper than I've even been able to find a used copy, and I do love me some downloadable games.

Riviera and Yggdra Union are well worth a download. Riviera is pretty wonderful, and has an incredibly interesting dungeon-crawling mechanic rather than simply walking from one place to the next. That's right game developers, sometimes just a simple choice is better than all the involving QTE's in the world.

I've got Steambot Chronicles for the PS2, but have yet to play it, so I'll hold off on getting the PSP version. Crimson Gem Saga is looking pretty tempting, though. I can't find a UMD copy anywhere, and I've been looking since launch.

Yggdra Union and Riviera are some of the best RPG/SRPG on the PSP.

Half-minute hero is great. but the game is $29.99 at Retail.

Why doesn't Atlus love Europe? :<

Did a European eat the Atlus Prez's mother or something?

I a crazy JRPG fan and I can't see those titles (besides Yggdra) as anything but below average. R-Type's actually pretty good.

@Gilgamesh: Atlus USA is only allowed to publish games in North America. I'm sure they'd love to publish in Europe and rake in all that cash, but they're not financially able to, nor is it within the scope of their company to do so.

Still shouldn't you be ale to download the games if you have a US PSN account? I'd think this would make it easier to get ahold of these games.

And yes, everybody everwhere needs to play Yggdra Union. It's not just the best SRPG on the PSP, it's the best of this entire generation, and last generation too. I'd be willing to go so far as to say it's the best SRPG ever made. BUY IT PLAY IT NOW NOW NOW

Nabbed Half Minute Hero. It's everything I expected, and I can see myself playing only it for a fair bit of time.

REALLY tempted to grab Yggdra and Riviera, as I've heard good things about both of them.
