Hot deal is hot: Refurb Xbox 360 Premium for $149.99 photo

Black Friday is for chumps -- you might want to hop on this now.

TigerDirect is offering up an Xbox 360 Premium bundle for $149.99. The only catch is that the unit is a refurb, and its warranty expires after 90 days. This is also the older model and lacks the HDMI output on most of the currently Xbox 360.

Knowing the longstanding issues with the Xbox 360 red rings (among other issues -- I've had the video cards crap out on two units), the lack of warranty might scare a few people off. Still, for those willing to take a chance and save some cash, it's hard to beat $149.99 for a current-gen console.

As of this writing the systems are still available and in stock. Those looking to play i and Gears of War 2 on the cheap this holiday may have found a pretty good option. Let us know if you decide to pick one up.

Little off topic but I hate that if you use HDMI with the 360 it has to work for sound too, the PS3 is not like this, and it kind of sucks.

I use the VGA cables to get my 1080p on..but would be nice to use hdmi, but that means only the TV can do the sound..and that ain't gonna work.

^^^run the HDMI through your A/V receiver first for HDMI sound...

@Drack: If your receiver doesn't have HDMI input (as TKurata suggests), MS makes a HDMI cable that includes the optical audio port. You could then run video to the TV via HDMI, and audio to your receiver via optical.

But it costs like $50, so there's no real reason. You won't get better picture quality with HDMI as compared to the VGA you're currently using.

...or you could pay 50 more for the newer (less red-ringy) 360 with a handy 3 year warranty. sure it doesn't come with a hard drive, but you get a memory card to try out the NXE.

Very much enticing! If it RROD's I'm not worried... I've always wanted one of these for holding up books in my bookshelf.

Don't jinx me -- I own a pre-hdmi unit.
2+ years and the only issues are the occasional "disc read" and "E68" (the 6 to 9 o'clock or lower right arc lights up red) errors.

Words like "refurb" and "xbox 360" when used, are often followed boy words like "red","ring" and "death".

Umm, no.

Pay the extra $50 and get something with a warranty.

It even looks cheap. I really don't like the looks of it. But that alone wouldn't keep me away from buying a console. There are other things.

Already have a pre-HDMI 360 that could break at any minute. No thanks.

Having just received the box to get my 360 repaired, Im glad that I got a full warranty on ours. I would stay away from a "deal" that has one that expires after 90 days. Also, no HDMI sucks.

Man, I might have bit on this deal IF it wasn't one of the older 360s.

Back then, MS didn't have a frickin' clue how to stop the RRoD on these machines.
