THQ has announced the Homefront Ultimate Edition, set for release in the first quarter of 2012. There's no word on what this edition will include, but one can safely assume the previously released DLC packs "The Rock" and "Fire Sale" will be bundled in.
That really is all there is to know about the reissue so far. Hopefully they include a difficulty setting that puts more enemies in the Hooters.
Homefront Ultimate Edition has been announced a day after the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition, which was announced not to long after the L.A Noire Complete Edition released ... and publishers wonder why consumers wait for used copies of games.
When you start to make it so that it's becoming stupid to buy a brand new game, don't be surprised when people stop doing it. Just saying.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
This is where I am today. I buy new games from companies I 100% believe in. Everything else can wait for the inevitable used GOTY with all DLC included.
I don't mind giving Bethesda $100+ for a game plus DLC because their DLC is worth it. Saint's Row, on the other hand, is not worth it to me to spend the money and then shell out for DLC when I can just wait it out.
By far my worst purchase of 2011. So bad I returned since I hated even looking at the damn thing.
"Follow me"
*Runs down the street, start getting shot at*
"Pick up that gun"
*Picks up gun*
"Shoot those guys"
*Shoots guys*
"There's no going back, you're a soldier in the resistance now"
*Puts controller down, goes to get the mail, comes back and puts borrowed Homefront back in its case forever*
Its one thing for an Elder Scrolls game to do it, its so massive its impossible to make the argument it isn't complete, but when you were serving up incentivized DLC and season-passes from the start for a single player game, people are going to start seeing it as bullshit more and more and just wait it out.
I tend to reward these efforts with a used bin purchase, too.
Not that I really expected Homefront to have an ultimate edition... how do you even give 2011's largest flop that honor?
Exactly! Thank you for saying these things.
Boy was I wrong, I never want to play the story again.
"Even not so great games with useless DLC are getting the "Complete Edition" treatment now. I don't even know what to say besides 'this sucks.'"
Actually - I approve of this kind of "Complete" edition. I am personally opposed to virtual bits DLC, so I welcome purchasing a "complete" edition that includes the DLC on disc (assuming it's not a card you redeem on XBL).
I'll be purchasing the "Complete" edition of New Vegas as I hope they package the DLC on disc like the Fallout 3 and Borderlands (non-download DLC included) editions.
I knew someone would go there. How is a game with 400 hours of gameplay "incomplete?"
Go on, explain that one for us.
Talk about a Bioware game and you might have a point with that - but Skyrim? Not a chance.
Also if they actually put out GOOD DLC maybe this would be worth it, but right now the basic edition is like $10 or so used. Why bother with an ultimate edition?

Who in their right mind thought this edition was necessary or even in demand? It should've been on the original disc in the first place if they were going to go this route. Don't get me wrong, I definitely want all the content (single-player, anyways, in which this DLC has none) but to think that a flop like Homefront deserves two editions is laughable and/or questionable.
What's next? Naughty Bear? Oh wait....
BTW I did like Homefront and still own it, don't need or want this new edition though. If it's more than $40, I'll get a good chuckle.
