I feel slightly miffed that PS3 isn't getting these DLCs anytime soon. I also feel slightly hypocritical as I haven't touched Skyrim since March.

PC players have had this option for a while now through mods, but it's nice to have an official version with more features. Cool.
Though, from a purely narrative point of view, I'm a little disappointed you can only adopt children. Would've been interesting to have kids of your own that actually look a little like you, à la The Sims.

I was really looking forward to the Skyrim DLC.. but now I'm kinda glad that Xbox is getting it first because after hearing about the initial DLC, I lost interest. This DLC seems more like something they should have added while people were still playing the game, because it sounds rather useless like "horse armour".
I still have hopes that they'll put out something closer in content and value to Shivering Isles... but I'm losing hope fast.

There are a ton of people still playing the game. You and I are probably in the same boat where we have the PS3 version and it sucks. I can't play it for more than 30 minutes without it crashing. But my boyfriend has it on PC and he still plays it all the time. The Steam Workshop means you can pick what 'DLC' you want without having to pay for it :)

@Kymiko... no I actually have my platinum in the game and have finished all of the known quests available. The only thing left are the radiant created quests that are kinda boring.
I disabled all auto-save options (save on rest, save on travel... everything) and I just constantly did manual saves and it seemed to get rid of the terrible lag issue.
I fully agree though that Bethesda did a TERRIBLE job on the PS3 version. Ironically I went back and re-played Oblivion after finishing Skyrim and Oblivion was actually a better game - fewer issues, longer and surprisingly the load screens were actually much shorter in Oblivion than in Skyrim (those stupid load screens whenever you entered a dungeon, a store, etc.)
I'm currently playing Dragon's Dogma... and Capcom did a MUCH better job. There are very few load screens, no issues at all that I've come across and frankly, the plot and game is much better than Skyrim. :(

... it should also be noted though that I'm retired... so I have a LOT of time for gaming! LOL! I still play MAG regularly (an online FPS game) and since completing Skyrim at around the 180 hour mark, I've since put over 200 hours into Oblivion and another 190 hours into Dragon's Dogma!

I feel raped for buying this game on PS3.
The thing barely works, and bethesda can't even make the first DLC works on it but are alredy working on the next one on the 360.
Seriously, they used to be my favourite game developer, but this incompetence on make playable games on the PS3 is really ruining their reputation at least for me.

@Elsa - I'm sure you'd have more fun with the PC version, then :) I just upgraded my PC to play on Ultra High, and can't wait to try to finish the thing, and add all the awesome mods I want.

I just got it last week, and I've been playing it a fair amount :) I hate the forced pawn system, but it's still a solid game. The 'auto-save' reloading doesn't seem to work when I die, though.

I don't want to bash Bethesda, because I do plan on applying for a job with them soon, but the Skyrim DLC so far has been pretty bad. I'm done with Skyrim. I've got my Borderlanda playthrough to worry about.
Buying land, building on land and coming home to an emotionless family. I think this is the DLC for me.
@kymiko... the reload just sends you to the last time you rested, you can do a manual save to establish a "retry" or better save point for yourself (which is nice when there are divergent choices to test them both out).
The pawns are actually pretty cool... and you can also shove your own pawn off a cliff and avoid ressurecting them at a riftstone if you want to go solo for a bit. I just made a new pawn that looks exactly like my husband and called him "husband4hire" and I'm having fun putting him in dresses and goofy clothes (he's a mage class). I may shove him off a cliff when I try out the assassin class! :)

Dawnguard was actually pretty good. This, however, seems a bit... mundane? Not to mention it's something that modders have already done although it's cool that console only players now get the option - even if they have to pay for it.
I hope you can make a personal library with just a lot of shelves. Currently I've maxed out the shelf space in the Markarth home and still have lots of books left over.
I have little interest in the DLC and the game has lost a lot of its luster. It starts off strong but gets old somewhere down the line. And, yes I've beaten it and done all the major sidequests.
I like this, more things to craft and more things to spend your money on. Home buying in skyrim was bad and on an individual character, once you have your crafting skills maxed and a good pile of gear-- there really is no need for ANYTHING but gems to charge your equipment that uses magic. And that's if you're not siphoning..

This is not what I want, so Bethesda have failed. They should do more stuff that I want, if they want to succeed.
Next DLC will be the unofficial fan patches that fix Bethesda's shitty coding, $10 Xbox 360 exclusive for 6 months.
There was a mod out that did the whole obtain a deed build a house thing. The adopt an orphan bit is the only thing that really changes this up.
I liked how I got my homestead in Morrowind better than the Skyrim and Oblivion options. It was actually the more viking thing to do, kill some one who's house you liked and take it.

How do you get "massive" from this? There's no need for them to add anything but the ability to drop a new building in some no-doubt very specific locations (if even more than one).
Still waiting for them to do something about the ridiculous amount of time one spends staring at loading screens. It shouldn't take 10 minutes to get in and out of the Thieves Guild just to turn in yet another fetch quest.

That's vaguely interesting, but we already have a massive tower in Winterhold. It's not like the new customization options will lead to anything as cool as the Arch Mage's HQ.
Man, I would buy a 360 just to play this expansion, but then after all the time i spent playing Skyrim on PS3, no way am I down to play it all over again. I didn't even complete the guild quests and I'm burnt out.
Customizable house plus ONLY Nordic children? No thanks Bethesda. I have Fable already. If you want my attention, allow me to adopt Khajiittens and Saxhleelings(Argonian children) or allow us to kill the children. Oblivion had forgivable mistakes because we assumed you guys wouldn't make them again and most of the game was intact from Morrowind. But with Skyrim and now the Elder Scrolls Online, you guys are laughing at us for buying your garbage mechanics that you straight up LIED about.
Bring magic back before you make us some more homesteads and then we will see if you guys shouldn't be sacrificed to the giant mudcrab that is our wrath.
