This morning's report that Viacom was actively looking to sell Rock Band and Dance Central developer Harmonix came as a shock to fans of the franchises. But according to a statement released by the Boston-based dev, things are business as usual.
"This morning's announcement does not affect the ongoing work at the studio as we continue to support our existing franchises, Rock Band and Dance Central," wrote Harmonix's John Drake on the Rock Band forums. "As stated earlier, Viacom is in discussions with several potential buyers and will continue to fully support the business until a sale is completed."
We'll obviously be keeping our eye on this story as it develops, as it could shape the future of Harmonix's current franchises. Still, it looks like in the short term, gamers shouldn't see much of a change. Now everyone please take your places, and continue rocking and dancing.
