HMV selling Modern Warfare 2 Prestige in UK for 120 quid photo

Yesterday, we found out that evil publisher Activision is planning to sell Modern Warfare 2 for the disgusting price of £54.99. One of the first questions had by stricken British gamers was one they also dreaded the answer to -- will the UK get a Prestige Edition, and if so, how much will that extravagent sh*t cost? Well, we now know the answer.

British retailer HMV will have exclusive rights to sell Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition in the United Kingdom, and they'll be selling it for £119.99. What's more, the special edition will only be available via the store's Web site, and won't be found in shops. Numbers are limited, so if you're interested in spending that much money for a pair of Night Vision Goggles, you better pre-order it quickly.

So, following yesterday's news ... who among you in the UK will actually buy this?

Hells no. Also, before the idiots emerge, this is $195.39 according to today's exchange rate.

I'm not even buying the standard game for £55 - unless i get a fucking blow job with that too.

I may even go trade in MW1, W@W and Guitar Hero WT at the weekend, just to hit Activision with some more used game sales - cocksuckers.

I'm not even buying the standard game if it is more than £40.
Also when did HMV ever get game exclusives?

So, it's 45 extra dollars than the US version. Funny, I thought if the regular edition is 55 pounds, the prestige edition should be 150 pounds.

£55 is the RRP so I assume it will be found cheaper in many places.

For example I have it pre-ordered for 43 from shopto.net.

But I want the Hardened edition which is a whopping £65!!!

If this came out a month ago, i could have quite literally claimed it as a business expense for some night lab work.

120 is ridiculous, you can get Rock Band complete band for less than that.

If you just want night vision goggles out of this it's pretty inexpensive since those can run for hundreds of dollars by themselves. So either its a good deal or they're shit. I'm leaning towards the latter.

If the night vision goggles are decent quality then that's actually very cheap. An average night vision monocular runs you £220. A good head-mounted unit like that one usually costs in the £800+ range. So I guess this one must be unbearably cheap and rubbish but even then, it's a bit of a bargain.

Unless of course you're a completely normal, well-adjusted human being who has no use for night vision goggles in which case yes it's a complete rip off and fuck them for these stupid prices.

Dear Actifuckwits,

Upon hearing of the prices you intend to sell MW2 for in the UK, I hereby invite you to observe and take heed of the picture in my avatar, as I sincerely believe it defines my response to your greed-driven dimwittery.

Not yours in the slightest,

Redeye.

Mmmmmmm...doubt it. 55quids for a game is like SNES all over again. No thanks. Doubt many retailers will sell it that price. 45s all round. You can pre-order it from Amazon for 44, or so.

Incidently, how many blowjobs came with your PS3, Sexchocs?

I think you guys are spoiled. Games in Sweden have been costing around 55 pounds since forever now. well, since this generation caught on. We'll probably end up having to pay 156£ / 255$ for the PE...

Hell, I'll think long and hard about paying £55 for the regular game. I guess that the price will put off a few people and hopefully a price war will ensue bringing it down to a normal price.

As for the pricing, it is a sad truth that in the UK we suffer a $=£ conversion on games. The PSP Go is to retail at £229 which when coverted to dollars is $371!!! So expensive that many independents do not even plan to stock it.

Wow...that's $195.73 USD. A $50 profit on the current exchange rate. Sucks to be a UK gamer.

For that price I would like it hand delivered by an Activision board member's barely legal virgin daughter, wearing nothing but the NVG's, who would stand behind me every time I play it giving me massages and ensuring a continous supply of snacks and beer.

And sex.

@ The Young Scot

yeah don't buy MW2 because now they are charging £120 for some night vision goggles, THE GAME MUST SUCK RIGHT? seriously, you're an idiot.

personally i don't give a fuck about the MW2 pricing. it's £44 everywhere i've looked, and £120 for the game and a set of night vision goggles is actually a GOOD DEAL. to be fair i'll be getting the standard edition, but a good friend of mine is springing for the prestige, and i say good for him.
