IESB found out earlier this week that 20th Century Fox has hired writer Kyle Ward to pen the script for the Hitman movie sequel. Adrian Askarieh, Daniel Alter and Chuck Gordon will be returning as producers on the film as well.
Why would they do something like this? Because the first movie grossed 100 million worldwide in box offices. That's not even including DVD sales, either. It's pretty impressive that a videogame movie made this much, but the average audience probably had no idea this was a videogame first. Still, not bad.
Kyle Ward also wrote the Kane and Lynch movie script and filming for that movie is expected to start later this year starring Bruce Willis.
Finally, the last bit of news is something you all will actually care about. IESB was told that the next chapter in the Hitman videogame series is expected by the end of 2010 and "it will take Agent 47 in a whole new direction." Well ain't that just some cool news!

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Whether to get Tim Olyphant back though? I think they should stick with him, as its good to have a regular face in such a role, and he can build on the character etc.
Great news about the game, Blood Money is one of my favorite games but does the line "it will take Agent 47 in a whole new direction" simply mean; We've watched the Splinter Cell: Conviction trailer as well and now we know what to do for a new Hitman game?
Movie: Thanks but... no thanks.
That has never been a good thing
I predict Vin Diesel.
I really enojyed the film too.
MOAR PLZ!
The complexity and variety of ways to accomplish your objectives is what makes Hitman awesome and gives it it's replayability. Adding a few more checkpoints to help less meticulous gamers get into it wouldn't bother me too much, but I really hope there are are no huge, game altering changes made. Please don't ruin my beloved Hitman games, pretty please?
The movie was pretty entertaining I thought. It's plenty stupid, but I can appreciate that in movies. Especially when I go into them with extremely low expectations. Also, Olga Whats-her-face (I can't spell it and I can't be bothered to look it up) from Quantum of Solace is in it and she is lovely. She's also kinda naked for a lot of it which helps.
The first Hitman game is so much worse than all the other ones that it basically doesn't count. I think this is well accepted. That's why the "Trilogy" pack had Hitman 2, Contracts, and Blood Money.
I can't wait for the next one.
I would dig a new movie, but am curious to see where they go with the story.
Also, a whole new direction can be a good thing. Like adding a story that actually makes sense. Think positive thoughts.
