Hitman creators form new 'online multiplayer' focused dev house, Reto-Moto photo

The founders of IO Interactive have announced the formation of a new development company called Reto-Moto, which will make an attempt at "redefining the multi-player space." The creators of the Hitman franchise (and more recently, Kane & Lynch) hope to capitalize on the broadening market of online gameplay.

"We've seen the interactive online market develope significantly in the last five years," said David Guldbrandsen, Chief Technology Officer of Reto-Moto, in a press release issued today. "Fresh from the global success of Hitman, we think our new company Reto-Moto is well placed to capture commercial and creative advantage."

Reto-Moto are mum on their first project, but are open to anything, saying that at this stage the company has "everything to play for." The company's official projects page is barren, but currently has a playable browser-based Pong clone that has some of the worst paddle AI in the history of videogames. Let's hope this doesn't translate to Reto-Moto's first title.

Using woman in bikinis as meat shields is mighty weak.

I disliked the last Hitman (the first one I tried). However the premise itself has always interested me.

While I clearly heard terrible things about Kane & Lynch, I always thought the multiplayer portion at least SOUNDED really cool. Despite the fact it's apparently broken like the rest of the game due to poor gameplay mechanics and AI, I think they were on the right track in terms of new sorts of multiplayer experiences.

I hope they can learn from their K&L mistakes and come up with a better-functioning gritty online game with a cool twist (like the fact you could totally screw over everyone in K&L).

*jumps on the MOAR HITMAN bandwagon*

Fuck other people, I want to murder gang leaders and mobsters and corrupt politicians in dynamic single player environments.

MOAR GODDAMN HITMAN!

I loved Silent Assassin (the soundtrack was amazing); I didn't like Contracts as much as SA but I still thought it kicked major ass; and I was underwhelmed by Blood Money.
=(
