Histamine blocker: Radio Allergy for the GameCube canned photo

It appears that the GameCube version of the much delayed quirky vertical scrolling shooter, Radio Allergy, has been given its walking papers.

In a recent post on O3 Entertainment's official boards, the fate of Radio Allergy for the GameCube has been confirmed -- it's been canceled. After a number of delays (including one that promised full 480p/progressive scan support), Milestone Inc. (the game's developer) has finally pulled the plug on the project, citing the fact that "retailers are no longer interested in stocking GameCube titles." Hey, guys -- that happened months ago; where have you been?

North American fans who were amped about finally seeing the game on their shores (Japan has seen it in the arcade, Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and GameCube) can rest easy. Hackneyed, tacked-on waggle controls just might be in the future -- Milestone are looking to include the game in a future Wii compilation disc.

Sad news, and playing this game with anything short of an arcade stick would be ridiculous.

It already has 480p on Dreamcast. Shame that this game pretty much sucks when compared to other shmups on the console.

I've had it pre-ordered for months now and was looking forward to it since shmups don't get brought to the U.S. too often. The possible Wii release of that and potentially Karous just annoys me further seeing as how there's no way I'm getting one.

@ CTZ: In no way did I intend to leave you out. Linde's just more incessant in his SHMUP praises.

I'm jsut excited for the compilation. Hopefully it will have that nutso looking new Monkey Magic game on it, and no motion controls what so ever.

I read that it may be released on Wii as a compilation with Chaos Field and Karous. That would be cool. I would certainly pick it up at $29.99.

Necros: Oh, I understand. I don't shoot my load off as obviously as Linde when it comes to SHMUPs. But damn did this game look awesome.

Nooo.

(I'm one of the losers that was anticipating this game.)

I'm fairly open minded with games, but man... allergy games? Not sure it would have sold many copies, anyway ;-)

Why'd they kill it? It would've sold to those that have a Cube and refuse to buy the gimmicky Wii, as well as those that auctully have the latter.

But I guess the waggle controls are the future of games, if that's the case, I'll stick to my PS2 and emulators on my PC.
