High Voltage teases a big announcement soon photo

The guys at High Voltage have been a bit silent since E3 and the launch of The Conduit. After announcing The Grinder and Gladiator A.D. I'm sure they're hard at work actually developing those games, but it seems they've got some news coming up.

In all likelihood the announcement will be something for The Grinder, but maybe they're working on some big new game based on a massive franchise. Remember, before High Voltage got all big and famous with their attempts to actually develop good games on the Wii they were best known for their licensed games. It could also be that both of their upcoming games are making their way to other systems. Most likely just release dates and such, though. Don't get too excited.

[i]The Conduit[/i} wasn't a perfect, but it was fun. High Voltage is one of the few developers that have shown a developer actually put effort into making a good Wii game. Hopefully there skills will mprove and they can make even better games.

Dayum, that's spooky, I though the exact same thing upon seeing that screenshot. I have the image of a ton of enemies in front of a minigun thanks to TS1, much like the screenshot above, but it has pistols. When I played the game, great enjoyment was had when that scene happened, I was like 'die, you evil bastards'. Man, I love that series.

Onto the news, maybe grinder for all three consoles? I dunno, could very well be just that.

Oh come on. You know Valve can't be arsed to figure out anything other than a PC. :)

iPhone port confirmed.

And with all due respect to HVS, Gladiator A.D. has no chance at retail. I am not saying that the game will be garbage nor that it needs to sell a tremendous amount to be profitable. However, the game features gameplay that I foresee not clicking with a massive amount of folks -- especially at a full retail price (*cough* Punch-Out Wii *cough*).

The Conduit was enjoyable for what they were doing.

I'm with Mushman. I think they are going to announce that they are working on the PS3 and 360 as well. I remember hearing that they were seriously contemplating the move.

Yeah, when I saw the screenshot I though *Gasp*"Timesplitters?!"

I liked that High Voltage pioneered true-FPS on the Wii though, so I wait with baited breath for their next venture.

Would not be surprised to see this be an announcement of a move to other consoles alongside the Wii. The High Voltage guys certainly deserve a shot, though. If that's the case, I wish them luck on the 360 and PS3 and well as on the Wii.

What could it be? Another game that would have been great if it had been released in 1998 for the N64 but today no one is going to care about? I can't wait!

Maybe The Conduit 2?
If so, please, polish up the story. Gameplay was fine.

Hope this is related to The Grinder. From what I witnessed at E3, the game was really awesome; maybe HVS's best idea yet.

Nitex

if you consider the conduit good, then you have some really low standards mate

why dont you play MW2, Halo 3, Metroid Prime 3 and/or Kz2 and see whats an immersive polished FPS game

calling hunter a pretty good game is an overstatement

also HVS has 14 years in the bussiness, are you telling me those are the only good games they were able to pull out is those 14 years of "experience"

Jonathan Holmes

with all due respect, it wasnt HVS's idea, it was valves

they are ripping off everything from L4D, from the 4 player coop, to the AI director (they created their own version called "AI architect")

now, im not saying devs cant take someone else's idea, however when you take inspiration from someone else you should ATLEAST change or improve that idea, thats what moves the industry foward

im far more interested in games like sin and punishment 2 and red steel 2, games that not only show graphical polish but original and inventive gameplay to back it up

@ pl0x- From what I saw, the Grinder actually wasn't that much like L4D. That comparison is just something that the press ran with when the game was first announced.

For starters, there are tons of different kinds of enemies in The Grinder, little teleporting vampires, Jason-style slashers, and rampaging werewolves for example. The tone of the game was also totally different. Where L4D is pretty serious, the Grinder was Grindhouse action/horror/comedy through and through.

None of that is particularly original, but it's not a copy of L4D either.

well holmes the tone doesnt really tells a game apart from another

is something any amateur modder can do without breakin a sweat, now the core gameplay looks extremely similar

also its not much different from L4D's B-movie action/horror/comedy tone

err L4D also has many types of zombies ya know?

tank, hunter, witch, smoker, boomer and regular zombies

not to mention the ones being added in the sequel

also so far ive seen more comedy in left 4 dead (delivered by the the lines of the team and the stuff written on the wall) than in the grinder, now, sure i have not seen the grinder in person like i assume you have, but i have not seen anything that could be considered comedy or horror for the matter
