High Voltage showing two new Wii games at E3 photo

The crap that High Voltage gets the Wii to do is pretty amazing. Looking at The Conduit in person you can tell that they've accomplished some pretty amazing stuff on the Wii graphically. Time to call it day and ride out your glory until the end of time, right? Evidently not. High Voltage seems to have the idea that they can do even more on the Wii and will be presenting that more at this year's E3, which, by the way is now only a month away.

Eric Nofsinger of High Voltage spoke about the upcoming E3 and admitted that they'd be bringing two new Wii games that will be pushing the console even further. "Our goal with The Conduit was to make a game that was the most graphically impressive for the Wii. Our goal with these [two] upcoming games is to do things that are very very rare, even on the 360 or PS3 ... Some of the things we are doing with the sheer number of enemies on the screen and things like that, are very impressive. We've got a demo we'll be showing there [E3]. The average number of enemies on the screen at any given time is 65 and then it goes up."

65 ENEMIES ON THE SCREEN AT ONCE ON THE WII! Didn't Red Steel slow down when more then two showed up? Of course it doesn't have to be an FPS, he could actually be talking about an RTS. If that is so, I promise to give him a sharp jab to the face at E3 for bragging.

In-video response with fun accents after the jump.

I still don't understand why people want the Conduit so badly. Yes, it is very impressive that High Voltage has gotten some impressive graphical power out of the Wii, as well as a (supposedly) very natural control scheme. But....is this what people really want for the Wii? A First Person Shooter?
Even at it's best The Conduit will NOT be better than FPS games on other consoles. That's not an insult to High Voltage or the Wii....it's just that, at it's best, The Conduit will be(and is being designed as) an approximation of genres that already work well on other platforms.
I'm reminded of all the Sonic the Hedgehog games I loved on my Game Gear...but that was because the Game Gear was the only game player I had. At the time, I thought the games looked amazing because they were so damn close to the quality of the Sonic games on consoles. In retrospect, I saw the games for what they were: approximations. They were only valuable insofar as they gave me more appreciation for the source material. On their own merits, they weren't very good at all.

@ Droll- The Conduit is definitely not that exciting for people that are satisfied with using dual analog controls in their first person shooters. Just like the RE4:Wii, the thing that makes The Conduit worth buying is the pointer controls.

Personally, I have never gotten into a competitive console FPS, because I hate aiming with the analog stick. The Conduit may change that.

We'll see in a few months.

@Droll and Jonathan - Personally I could give two shits about graphics and multiplayer, I'm one of those retro guys who likes the SNES more then the PS3. What has me excited about Conduit is the control, story, and (if the story trailer they released is any indication) the music. For Droll specifically, I hope you play the game before you decide how good it is, I certainly will.

The same guys getting excited for Conduit are the same people getting excited that the Wii can render 65 enemies at once...where the fuck are we? 1996? Dead Rising 2 just showed we can have more than 7,000 zombies on screen at once.

And you're going crazy over SIXTY-FUCKING-FIVE.

And Zcdrike, I think anyone in their right mind would prefer the SNES over the PS3.

I dunno, man. I hear the Snes is pretty cool. I hear they got this one game where you SHOOT FIREBALLS! You gots a gun that SHOOTS FIREBALLS. And you ride on a T-Rex and EAT DUDES.
How many PS3 games feature a Dinosaur that eats dudes?

The only cool thing about the Conduit is the fact you can aim with your wii-mote like a railshooter.

I may not have much interest in The Conduit, but I almost feel like buying their game just to reward them for actually doing some effort. I'll look forward to see what they have cooked up next.

People are excited about The Conduit because High Voltage is a third party that's actually making the effort to push the system's hardware and attempt to deliver a AAA title that isn't developed by Nintendo.

Sadly, my guess is that all the people who hate FPS games will love The Conduit on the Wii because they have nothing else like it, but hardcore fans will hate it.

The Conduit promises to be better than Metroid Prime 3, and Metroid Prime 3 was effing awesome.

The more pressing issue is whether it can deliver on that promise. I will say this much: If the Conduit fails to do so, the Wii will be "written off forever as a hyper-advanced etch-a-sketch," to borrow a phrase from Zero Punctuation.

Not that there's anything wrong with hyper-advanced etch-a-sketches, mind you... but I would like to see the Wii become something more...

High Voltage continually reference Metroid 3 in their chatter about The Conduit, which only serves to tell me that they are taking this project very seriously.

If you Wii people really want an FPS, why not go PC? Crysis and STALKER alone blow away whatever the 360/PS3/Wii have and the mouse is way more accurate than the Wiimote.

I can't tell if some of the people here are just trolling, or extremely thick.

It's just really fun to own all 3 consoles and rag on the Wii.
