Hey, nerd! Insane Ian's 'n3rds0ngs' is game-reference heavy photo

Comedian and Destructoid community member, Insane Ian, has released his new CD n3rds0ngs. Why should you care?

Not only is Ian totally and completely insane (hence the name), but he's also a nerd. And nerds, as we know, love videogames. So n3rds0ngs is heavy on the games references, like the Resident Evil homage "Umbrella Chronicles," a spoof of Rhianna's pop track, "Umbrella." Or "WOW Christmas!" and "Guitar Hero" -- if you don't get those references, you're not nerdy enough to listen to the CD, so look elsewhere.

The CD is available now on Ian's Web site, and makes the perfect gift for that special nerd in your life. Or for yourself. Nerd.

References for the sake of references do nothing for me. I suspect this is why I cannot penetrate a show like "The Big Bang Theory". However, I do love Family Guy which is odd.

Waiting for it to go to ThePirateBay , then I'll listen to it one time and forget about it ...

@eternalplayer
Me too , I think I know why, THBBT has bad references (like when they said Halo 3 had decapitations and complicated story) , but Family Guy has complete random references , and none of them are serious enough to be considered wrong ...

I hate to be cruel, but those preview songs on his website were awful. They just sounded so unprofessional. He's got a good voice, but not enough to carry MIDI instruments.

@Naim Master maybe I did grin a little when they mentioned Zork and I think the guy that makes that show is really a hardcore nerd but most people who watch that probably only laugh because the nerds are just being nerds. Though I will give it props for being faithful to the references my favorite is having actual mario 64 sounds come out of a emulator referenced by the cast.

If the music was a little more relevant to new games, and the music didn't sound like a copy infringement I might actually check it out more.

They're called parodies, Volomon.

Wow, thanks guys for that smattering of...indifference. Sure, it may not be as technically polished as, say, Weird Al...but I get by. ^_^

@eternalplayer2345 and Volomon - There are no references for references sake here, and the games themselves are all currently relevant ("World of Warcraft Christmas" came out just after the newest expansion and, has anyone heard of RE5?)

And yes, as Dexter345 pointed out, parody is not copyright infringement. (Besides, there's original stuff there too, like 'Seeing Red', about the 360's RRoD and styled after Linkin Park...tho not a direct parody of one of their songs.)

Hopefully, these songs will appeal to at least SOME of you out there in the community, as there's a lot more than just VG related tunes (such as zombies, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek & Star Wars, Jay & Silent Bob, Heroes and more) that cater to nerds of ALL ages and fandoms.

And yes...i'm a born and bred nerd. Gaming since Atari and nerdy as an mother FuMPing nerdy nerd since birth.

I'd just like to say I'd tune in to The Big Bang Theory for Penny alone.
