Only good things can come when you combine the forces of Crysis with Back to the Future.

A mod by Tirido made the rounds this weekend on the social news sites, and for good reason. It brings a functional DeLorean into the game (and Crysis Wars) that you can play around with for fifteen minutes or however long it takes before the concept grows old.

To get the full effect, I suggest you watch the video above here instead. You can thank Reddit user Dave10 for that one. While the mod may not have serious longevity, it's the creativity behind the idea that counts.

The fact that someone thought to make such a thing brings a tear to my eye.

They need to do a Back to the Future game. Michael J Fox could probably still do the voice work.

Seriously, Back to the Future game. Just make it like GTA only I can travel through time and completely fk the space-time continuum.

That was awesome. Indeed, its now got me wanting a BttF game, the irony being there has never been a good game to represent the film. With the stuff we can do in games now, a BttF game could be pretty good.

Amazing. I think the GTA:Hill Valley Mod was a better overall execution, but this looks damn nice, and looks go a long way.

So, yeah... Where's our freaking BttF game already?

I would totally put up with some "Run for it Marty!" QTE events if I got free roaming Hill Valley and the ability to travel through time to solve missions. Imagine the depth of the concept if someone could do a decent time travel game well.

Kinda like Ocarina of Time's concept perhaps?

GAME DEVS! MAKE IT HAPPEN!

With the evidence that was just laid out before me, I ask, how have they NOT actually done this already? Licensing fees? Pure gaming bliss? I want me some of this!

Wow, that is one well done mod. The time it would take to plan a level around it would be immense, but I kind of hope a mod team jumps on it.

Hey, if the interest grows, as it did with Ghostbusters, there's no reason why it couldn't happen. Ghostbusters, I honestly never thought I'd see but it happened.

What kind of gameplay would suit BttF today? I guess an action adventure with rpg style overtones would be cool. Say the mix of Bully style gameplay with a dose of Mass Effect dialogue play. There could be stealth parts where needed, to avoid running into yourself or family.

Maybe a fresh game, set in between BttF 1 and 2 or something. Or maybe do the alternative universe thing.

This reminds me of a mod done for the gta iv pc version, though it wasn't nearly as good as this one. I'd say aan adventure game of BttF would be so freaking awesome. Get to it, telltale!

@ hood

A BTTF adventure game you say? What a lovely idea. Exploring different time periods with lots of witty dialogue and puzzles... sounds like a perfect fit, really.

Too bad the chances are slim at best.

I'll murder people if it means I can get a back to the future game that looks just as fucking awesome as this was. Seriously, when I first saw the time travel effects and the ice on the car when it came back, I think a tear came to my eye.

If they could make a BttF game with the same production values as the recent Ghostbusters game, i.e. getting the original cast back, making it not suck, and so forth, that would be incredibly awesome. They need to get started on this right away.
