Hey Europeans, Front Mission 3 is coming to PSN photo

If you've been busy hating on Front Mission Evolved for not being a turn-based strategy game, and have the good fortune to be living in Europe (or have a PAL PlayStation Network account), then you're in luck, because Square Enix is rereleasing Front Mission 3 to the European PlayStation store, the better to wax nostalgic about those halcyon days of action points and tiles and pressing "End" on the menu a bunch.

Said Larry Sparks of Square Enix Europe:

With the forthcoming release of Front Mission Evolved, the Front Mission series is back with a bang. Before the evolution of the series, we think it’s the perfect time to revisit a previous classic installment with Front Mission 3. We’re very pleased to be able to bring this compelling title to the PlayStation Network.

Be pleased, then, because the game that started it all (for most westerners) is now available to all (Europeans). Then again, some might not be so pleased, as a few long-time Front Mission-aries (heh) blame Front Mission 3 for Front Mission 4's lukewarm critical reception and poor sales, which in turn killed off a Front Mission 5 overseas release. But that's a whole other chain of hatred. For now, just pick this up and combo Knuckles with a Shotgun. Do it.

It's one of my favorite SRPGs - plain and simple.

I remember picking this up on release day without knowing what Front Mission was about. It was just on a whim and man, it was such an eye-opener. Absolutely adored this game, but it's a shame we got shafted with the sequels.

I don't care about your stupid FM:Evolved, Konami! I just want Scars of the War! It's not that difficult!

So, if I create a European account, I should be able to grab this too, right?

I've purchased every Front Mission release in English -- and even some Japanese copies while I was overseas, including Front Mission 5.

I wish Square would be a better job at supporting this series.

@ Themightylebeau2009;

Mine would be the skill with the ability to blow a wanzer-part off by chance.

To anyone who hasn't come across the game before, I suggest you get it NOW. It's a very good RPG, and the game is set up so that you can replay the story on a different branch. Also, I believe that the characters you meet and team up with change depending on which branch of the story you start with.

Ive had at least 4 different endings depending on which branch you take.

@ Batthink - Always hoping its an arm! Or if its close combat wanzer, its legs.

Bastards! Lucky, lucky european bastards. I would play the HELL out of this game on my PSP.

Favorite skill? Salvo. Fire every rocket in your launcher in a single attack. Kills. Robots. Dead.

Yes, lucky Europeans. Square Enix USA seriously sucks not just for ignoring this game, but other old cult hits over here. There's a lot of upside for them if they just made them available on the US PSN, instead of being stingy and not releasing anything.
