Hey Borderlands PC players, here's that patch you wanted photo

Update 1.01 for the PC version of Borderlands is here! Thank goodness, because after looking over the patch notes, you can't help but notice just how big some of these issues really are.

  • Characters that have lost skill points will have the lost points refunded
  • Clients will no longer lose proficiency progress upon leaving a co-op game
  • Item cards now display the intended five lines of detail text
  • Lilith's Phase strike and melee attacks from Phase Walk now function as intended
  • Voicechat: users can now control volume and individually mute players
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused CL4P-TP to stop progressing during the introduction
  • Server browser population times have been improved
  • Server information should now always display the correct plot mission
  • Benchmarking feature now works as intended
  • Nvidia 3D Vision visuals now render shadows correctly (requires minimum 195.28 drivers, available from nVidia)

Take note: if you own a retail copy of the game, you can get the patch directly from Gearbox; if you own a digital copy, whether it be from Steam or elsewhere, you'll have to wait on your distributor to get it out to you. Thankfully, that should be happening momentarily.

so wait, on the console version, when you melee in phasewalking, it exits you from phasewalking... is that no supposed to happen? Is thatwhat they fixed for the pc version? if so, I'd like that patched too

No! I didn't want it! Take all your bugfixes back!

Ahem. Nice to see this is patched in, but if I'm honest I'd like to see them doing something about all the pirated copies online. I don't even own the game and I feel bad for Gearbox with their lack of DRM causing EXTRA piracy over gaining people's support.

Hell, people cancelled their preorders when they found the pirate version worked online.

They should find a way to give the people who didn't pirate the game Halo's.

Well thanks gearbox. I've already lost interest in your game and moved on to other games like Dragon Age and NSMB:Wii, but I guess you got my money so it's all good.

Yep, Steam just shoved it at me just in time for the finale. I only ever noticed the Claptrap one during the intro... I really only used Phasewalk for it's "OH CRAP, NEED TO MOVE" utility, so no skin off my nose there.

@Clinton Atkinson

Are you or your friends behind any routers because you need to port forward them on said routers.

There you go, bro.

@Yehat

we already tried this...and we tried to fix it several times...
I can't fix it on my end because my roommate changed the user name and password of the router in our apartment...and he lost the slip of paper with the password on it >_> so I can't do that...

My friend that I've been trying to play with WAS able to do that on his computer, and it didn't help at all...in fact, the changes didn't seem to really do anything period! and we followed the instructions as best as we could (they didn't have a router listed in the portforward.com link given on the post higher up in that thread). even when we did what seemed to be exactly right, it didn't work.

instead, we found a simpler fix that made things a lot easier. Both of us signed up for this program called GameRanger. i was skeptical at first, but it seems to work in making multiplayer matches. plus a huge majority of the games being hosted through GameRanger are for Borderlands (i guess people caught on when they heard it would actually work).

my only complain is that the game randomly keeps dropping before we get to Fyrestone whenever we try to start a new game. it drops on us anywhere from right after we open the first chest to get the red pistol and the other repeater pistol, to right before we enter Fyrestone. that whole time frame is when the game is prone to crashing. i'm not sure why, though, but it'd be nice if i could find out why...i didn't get any hits when googling an answer, so i may have to check the GameRanger forums

also, long post is long

No, no it's not the patch I wanted. It's just the stuff for console they released weeks ago. What we needed was UPNP settings for multiplayer hosting, a proper FOV setting, and some tweaks to make opening chests in New Haven not the best way to get new weapons. But keep trying.

Voice thing is particularly appreciate it, also might start a lilith now to try her.

Can we lowly PC users get a confirmation on the upcoming DLC? Pretty please!

I'm sad that Lilith's melee attack immediately stops the phasewalking, and that it wasn't changed. They also completely didn't fix anything to do with the co-op feature... which was one of the biggest things people needed.

Sad to see no UI improvements on there... that was my only real issue with the game.

@Misanthrope

Already confirmed dude, just coming later.

SERIOUSLY GEARBOX?! NO UPNP/MULTIPLAYER FIXES!"?!?!

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is the last time i buy a gearbox game, i bloody loved it, but a game that sells multiplayer that simply doesn't work is just shocking. Having to use a third party tool like gameranger to get it working is shocking. Having them not even admit there is a freaking issue is APPAULING.

Oh and to the inevitable "oh hey guy just forward your ports noob". Seriousely?

A) When was the last time you had to port forward for a game? 1999?
B) What about ppl in Universites with no access to their routers?
C) Im a Cisco certified network engineer and i can't get the crap to work reliably!
