It's magical. It's relaxing. And it's coming to a PlayStation 3 near you. No, I'm not talking about the Blu-ray version of Butt Pirates of the Caribbean, I'm talking about flOw -- the downloadable game that will make your PS3 seems slightly more worthy. Take a look at this vid and enjoy the soothing new age sounds.
It looks like they did some more to the game since the last I played the flash version. That one was way too short. It's a simple relaxing game, but I wanted a little more. More creatures to eat and battle, more stuff for my little guy to evolve into. It seems that the PS3 version has some of these upgrades. Even the actual animation of diving down a level is an improvement over the flash.
I love experimental games like this and it's nice that it's getting a push by Sony. Yes it is a free flash game but so are most Xbox Live Arcade games as well.
flOw and the other game that this company makes, Cloud, is just one of those things where you either get it or you don't. I wish the industry was more flOw and less Cliffy B Abercrombie shirts.
this game is not worth $30. have you played it? its you pointing to where you want this worm to go and it eats glowy dots COMPELLING STUFF oh yeah, you get to fight other parasites AKA going circles for 3 minutes til you eat all their thoraxes. i'd pay $2 at max for this game, unless they come up with some other genius gameplay mechanics that the FREE flash version i played a year and a half ago didn't have. $30, HA!
First time I played this game I just lost track of time and played it at least 40 minutes straight. It's a cool concept game and I hope more will follow based on Jenova Chens thesis.
Um.. I can't say this calms me down at all. Mostly cause i'm calm most of the time and i don't need a truly boring game to bore me into a state of calm. It's pretty and the flash game was neat for the first 5-6 minutes. But after that it's a snore. I can't even justify 2 bucks for it. But then i wouldn't pay money for space invaders or asteroid either.
FlOw is a cool idea, but there really isn't much to do. More videos of this would be nice to see if gameplay does get... *ahem* deeper.
The Flash version has a lot of interface issues. Namely, your creature often goes off-screen if you move too fast, which is really annoying. Just fixing that is a major improvement.

The bloom effects are awesome, as are the "swimming down" animations.
If this is going for a few bucks a pop, I would buy it.
Maybe that's just me, or my bass-heavy headphones.
