Here they are, your first details on Guitar Hero Modern Hits photo

Already revealed in name by the ESRB not long ago, Nintendo Power (February 2009) has the first details on Activision's upcoming Nintendo DS title, Guitar Hero Modern Hits.

Beyond dropping the the "On Tour" from the name, Modern Hits looks like it's revamping its single-player career experience as well. Ditching the straight forward way of working down a list, it's now a bit more open. You'll choose to play shows in different venues, gaining fans. As your popularity grows, you'll get more money, more fans and with them, "Fan Requests." The requests vary, but seem to hinge on avoiding bomb notes or playing songs at hyperspeed.

As far as the set list is concerned, you've got the modern hits that you'd expect from a game called Modern Hits. The ESRB listing already inadvertently revealed songs by Franz Ferdinand, Finger Eleven, and Sum 41. The brilliance of those bands will be matched by tracks from Evanescence ("Sweet Sacrifice") and Coldplay ("Violet Hill").  Don't like the "modern hits," you'll be able to share songs wirelessly between the two previous DS games.

Some venues and the list of songs revealed so far can be found after the jump.

Is there some kind of law against using a Strokes song other than Reptilia or something?

And um, Guitar whatever + DS is retarded, so no one cares.

So far that's a horrible track list.

Also, old Finger Eleven is awesome. !Tip++

I like Still Waiting. But I don't play Guitar Hero for the DS. So meh.

Agreed, can we PLEASE get a new Strokes song in one of these rhythm games? (Preferably Rock Band..)

...Excellent choice for a Bravery song though. Can we get that one in Rock Band as well?

The only things I can say yay to are Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chefs, and The Bravery, but this has Fall Out Boy in addition to being a guitar hero and on the ds. So no thanks

Damn this song list pretty much guarantees me not buying this game. Then again I hate 90% of modern rock. That remaining 10% is rock I will never see in a video game. If I do see it in a rhythm based video game that well be around the same time I see another good sonic game. Which is never.

For a second I was really excited to see Tenacious D. But it's just The Metal again. So, outside of The Fallen, I really don't care.

The Fallen is all that interests me.
Weezer would have if it were from Blue or Pinkerton. Oh Weezer, how you have fallen.

All of those songs are bad, all of those bands have mostly bad songs. WOW GOOD JOB. This game could have been good, too bad they wasted a title with shitty scene music and other types of crappy modern music.

Except The Fallen, that song is pretty good. The Tenacious D song is meh.

I would have probably gotten this game if it were on consoles instead of the DS and Activision wasn't so evil. The set list is better than I expected. I like pretty much all the bands on here. Yes, even Fall Out Boy.

Recycling "The Metal" again? Come on, Tenacious D fans deserve better. Pick of Destiny please?

some of these are pretty good, but not good enough to get me to buy this game :p

Plus, since my hands are too big, GH on DS just blows for me, though my GF loves it :-)

Dear Activision,
Your whoring out of the Guitar Hero franchise has made me a rabid Rockband fan. Congratulations.

Well doesn't that track list look like a great stab in the face. Except for Tenacious D.

i've always thought it's ironic that "HITS" is an anagram of "SHIT".

@Wedge: Yeah. Mostly because none of their other songs are worth hearing more than once.

Ever.
