Ever wondered what a Genesis game looks like on the DS? No, because you already know. It looks like a Genesis game, but smaller. That's exactly what Sonic Classic Collection looks like. Isn't that fun for you?
I will say that I like the very quick access to the "Save" and "Load" buttons. On the Ultimate Genesis Collection, you have to navigate through two menus every time you want to save. Being able to just hit the touch screen when you want to save is rather convenient. At the very least, it's given me a free paragraph of stuff to talk about.
Looks like a decent little collection, but I really want that special edition that, so far, is only confirmed for Spain and Australia. Get that in North America and it'll be a day one buy from me.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Why is being far into it's life cycle bad? Just means there's a LOT of good games to play that you haven't yet.
I mean, heh, it has the greatest Sonic game ever made, Sonic 3 and Knuckles in it.
Essentially every other collection barring Sonic Jam for the Saturn has absolutely ABYSMAL sound emulation.
I'm just saying, if they can't be bothered to port it over correctly, then my God.
By the way Sonic & Knuckles was released on European Virtual Console the on Friday. I can confirm Knuckles is playable in the previous Sonic titles if you have them downloaded on your machine.
Ya know, give me an actual reason to buy this for the 40th time.
Where's the Streets of Rage Collection. Or where's the Shining Force Collection? I'm sure these are more deservng of such treatment.
It seems that the only IP yoou want to sell us is Sonic, when the name Sega is about so much more. Get with the program and offer more variety, before we get worn out on Sonic.
And how on earth is this going to sell, next to Sonic 4? Go figure.
No, people have been playing all genesis sonic games on DS for years now. And they don't feel guilty, because all the programmers were paid for their work on those games decades ago, and they made SEGA millions. Why do we need to pay again for them? Don't get me wrong, if they were proper conversions, I'd be buying. But simply pasting roms and even using open source code that some Genesis enthusiast coder has done in his own time (and off his own back) is just not on.
