Here's what Sonic Classic Collection on DS looks like photo

Ever wondered what a Genesis game looks like on the DS? No, because you already know. It looks like a Genesis game, but smaller. That's exactly what Sonic Classic Collection looks like. Isn't that fun for you?

I will say that I like the very quick access to the "Save" and "Load" buttons. On the Ultimate Genesis Collection, you have to navigate through two menus every time you want to save. Being able to just hit the touch screen when you want to save is rather convenient. At the very least, it's given me a free paragraph of stuff to talk about.

Looks like a decent little collection, but I really want that special edition that, so far, is only confirmed for Spain and Australia. Get that in North America and it'll be a day one buy from me.

I'll get this eventually, but if sega wants my money day one, they'd best release that special edition here.

If I had a DS, I'd probably pick this up. Classic Sonic on the go? Yes, please.

Why is being far into it's life cycle bad? Just means there's a LOT of good games to play that you haven't yet.

If I didn't already own these games like...three times over, I'd pick this one up.

I mean, heh, it has the greatest Sonic game ever made, Sonic 3 and Knuckles in it.

I've always been tempted to pick up those Sonic collections on consoles. Maybe being portable will be the thing that finally gets to purchase a Sonic collection. It is looking good, I will say that!

This looks too cool. A friend gave me his sonic mega collection and I hate buying games twice....but....but it's on the DS!!!

Love it, will definitely be buying this to play on my mums pink DS. I would happily play through the original 3 on the bus.

Seeing how this happens to allow me to actually play Sonic 3 & Knuckles whereas Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection couldn't, I'll definitely give this a look.

Will have to wait and see how these are emulated (or if they're actual ports?), but provided they sound and run like they're supposed to, this is by far the most attractive way to own these games in my opinion. Floating in an ocean of roms on a massive, disc based collection is a bit messy, and buying them one by one off Live still has you stuck with the 360 dpad to play them with.

Essentially every other collection barring Sonic Jam for the Saturn has absolutely ABYSMAL sound emulation.

So is the aspect ratio screwy, is it because they're just sample/concept images, or is it just me?

I'm just saying, if they can't be bothered to port it over correctly, then my God.

i'm interested, but a few things still bother me. As not-emulation via the use of strictly for homebrew use flash cards have shown us, the ds screen is below the resolution of the genesis. that and all the games better be unlocked from the outset.

I take it Sonic CD is not included.

By the way Sonic & Knuckles was released on European Virtual Console the on Friday. I can confirm Knuckles is playable in the previous Sonic titles if you have them downloaded on your machine.

It'd be nice if they included a version of the original Sonic The Hedgehog where you could play as Tails and Knuckles.

Ya know, give me an actual reason to buy this for the 40th time.

This game is looking quite nice, and it'll be fantastic to have these on the go. I sorta like the use of the lower screen, but it seems like having that might get in the way during gameplay. Unless that's a quicksave/load system, which might come in quite handy.

Save/Load access is cool, but totally unnecessary. Still a cool little collection.

Yes, very nice Sega, but what about the rest of your IP?

Where's the Streets of Rage Collection. Or where's the Shining Force Collection? I'm sure these are more deservng of such treatment.

It seems that the only IP yoou want to sell us is Sonic, when the name Sega is about so much more. Get with the program and offer more variety, before we get worn out on Sonic.

And how on earth is this going to sell, next to Sonic 4? Go figure.

Emulated. Shameless money grabbing from SEGA. They've obviously just copied the code from Lordus's "JenesisDS" and pasted the original roms on a DS card (with some slight modification that took a SEGA employee about 10 minutes). The vertical scaling is particularly bad, hence being able to select "SUNIL" from the menu screen. I always disable it in JenesisDS. Wonder if you can on these 'games'?

No, people have been playing all genesis sonic games on DS for years now. And they don't feel guilty, because all the programmers were paid for their work on those games decades ago, and they made SEGA millions. Why do we need to pay again for them? Don't get me wrong, if they were proper conversions, I'd be buying. But simply pasting roms and even using open source code that some Genesis enthusiast coder has done in his own time (and off his own back) is just not on.
