Quantcast

The pain of Pandemic Studio's closure is starting to intensify, now that footage of a canceled project has reared its head. It's a multiplayer-only game called Mercenaries Incorporated, and it looks rather cool. Thank goodness there's that Office Space tribute to cheer us up.

It looks similar to the previous installment on a basic level, but I'm seeing a serious Battlefield influence in Mercenaries Inc., no question. And the vehicular combat -- is that a Mad Max vibe it's giving off? I'd say so.

As far as I can tell -- through some admittedly quick digging online -- this project was being developed separately from Mercenaries 3. Since it's so multiplayer-centric, that makes a lot of sense.

So I guess the question is, does this game's cancellation mean EALA will bring us Mercs 3? Or is World in Flames the last we'll ever see of the series? Man, I hope not. It may have been totally glitchy, and missing that extra layer of polish, but I loved the hell out of it.

Mercs 1 > Mercs 2.

It would be a shame to loose this game, looks like it would be pretty fucking awesome.

Fingers crossed.

Yeah, yeah. Keep acting like we miss Pandemic. They were talented and made some fun time wasters but I can't think of anything they put out that was truly outstanding.

This looks like it could be pretty fun though. Kinda brown, though.

I wasted 50$ of Mercenaries 2 one year ago.

Sexualchocolate speaks the truth , I would even say that Mercs 1 > All PS2 GTAs

Aggh that's a shame. Despite its problems I bought two copies of Mercs2. I had a lot of fun with it.

@ Kraid - Agree entirely.

Mercs 1 and Bully were my top PS2 games. No questions asked.

Was such a shame they turned the psudo-serious mercs 1 into the plain silly Mercs 2.

@Sexualchocolate ; Mercs 2 was a complete joke , I have no idea why I still have it in my collection , apart from the fact that's it's worth 8$ now and the trade-in value is bogus...

I loved the ever loving crap out of this game.

Red Faction Guerilla was the game that Mercs 2 should have been. I had more fun with Mercs 1 than San Andreas though.

Still liked Mercs 2. Fuck everybody.

I will agree Mercs 1 was better than PS2-era GTA however.

Mercs 1 was pretty good. Mercs 2 was forgettable.

Shame to see another developer fade in to the ether though. Seems like we've been seeing a lot of them fold up in the past year.

I enjoyed Mercs 1 quite a bit, but didn't really get into the sequel. Shame about Pandemic though.

Mercs Inc. wouldn't really be my thing, but it does look pretty fun.

So sad to see them go. I'd always hoped they'd get back to making another battlezone game.

Mercs 2 didn't do enough for me as Mercenaries, but I think I would have played Mercs Inc.

how about if you shut up and see tha helicopter that crashed almost on top of the player in that video

the first mercs was, in my opinion, better than GTA SA at the time, sure GTA had a bigger world, more vehicles and a better story, but mercs was more fun becuz all the things that made GTA great (tanks, helis and guns) were almost perfect in mercs, no stupid shit autoaim, the helis were perfect and the tanks awesome, and mercs IA was MUCH better (too bad the sequel didnt do the first games AI justice) not to mention THE MOTHERFUCKIN AIRSTRIKES

ahhh the memories, we'll miss you pandemic
