Here's your answer, the first screens from the Club Nintendo exclusive WiiWare title, a one-on-one against your trainer As you can see, the game utilizes the engine for the recently-release Punch-Out!! for the Wii and does not require that game to play.
All you need in order to kick Doc's ass is to be a Platinum-level member of Club Nintendo. You have until August 11 to make your choice; good luck with that.

Bit of a typo I'd say :P
As much as I really REALLY wanted this, I had to go with the Mario hat. It just seems more worth it in the long run. I'm going to wear that freakin hat EVERYWHERE.

That's right, I don't like Punch Out. I *never* liked Punch Out. I like it even less now that I'm saddled with the belief the it cost me that sexy SNES controller that I must now buy on eBay after holding off for months on the pretense that it would likely be our Platinum payoff and I would finally be able to play Mega Man 9 with an appropriate device. Fuck you, Doc. Fuck you for making me write run-on sentances.
I think I'm just going to look for it online and play it that way. Much easier. And I get both the hat and game if I do that.
