Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was a good RPG.
It doesn't need to be the next WoW. It just needs to be good enough to attract enough players to make it profitable.

Here's what 38 Studios' Project Copernicus looks like
It's been a busy day for 38 Studios. Amidst the company's recent financial issues, the future of its massively multiplayer online game Project Copernicus wasn't looking so bright. They've decided to go ahead and just put up a trailer which showcases a brief fly-through of the game's world, Amalur. For as long as we have collectively known Copernicus existed, this is somehow our first real look at the game. The art direction feels familiar for the genre, but unique in enough places to be its own thing. And that's about all I can glean. Here's hoping we get to see more substantial footage before too long. Did you know? You can now get daily or weekly email notifications when humans reply to your comments.
Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)I for one really enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur and with them the best of luck in finding some way to survive this rough patch. Fantasy MMOs are a dime a doze nowadays so they have to do a lot to stand out, but those environments are sexy. The scale is ridiculous. Damn, that's gorgeous, but I'd prefer it be a single player RPG instead of an MMO.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was a good RPG. Ditch the MMO and incorporate its assessts into Reckoning 2. I really hope these guys survive, but damn I personally dont think ANOTHER fantasy MMO is a good idea. You are NOT going to get WoW money. Yea unless they go f2p with really reasonable microtransactions, this thing will sink the company (and possibly rhode island too lol) drop the mmo crap and make another game in the series with online CO-op. more action rpgs need co-op They are doomed but if they fined another dum ass to give them more money then make it an open world single player or co-op. All the big boy have huge MMO's coming out in the next few year with deep pockets, (SOE Planetside 2 and EverQuest 3), The Secret World, Guild Wars 2, ect..... 38 Studios should just give up on the MMO dream if they do not have the 150-200 mil to work with. I for one hope they make it . Hard to see how it could all be completed by next year, but I'm rooting for em.
It doesn't need to be the next WoW. It just needs to be good enough to attract enough players to make it profitable. I loved Kingdoms of Amalur, but I just do not enjoy MMOs. If this ever releases I would be willing to give it a shot because I loved KoA so much, but just as a general rule I have never been able to play one for longer than about a week. I think they probably should have just focused on some smaller games before going into this whole MMO thing, especially since it is such a saturated market right. Lessons learned, perhaps! i am not even sure this is going to release, and if it does, it doesnt seem like an interesting mmo concept I'll be tremendously disappointed if 38 goes under. Even though I don't know how much I really want an MMO, I do want them to keep making games because they're just fantastic at crafting fun mechanics, abilities, talent systems, and all that other under-the-hood stuff that make RPGs interesting to play. 6:00 AM on 03.05.2013 Schilling looking to dismiss lawsuit over 38 Studios loanCurt Schilling has requested a judge throw out the lawsuit against his now-defunct development house.
