I hope they at least recognise the aspects that have been highlighted in the deeper fiction during the campaign.
It literally tells you nothing more than the first trailer did.
Literally.
Well, seeing as the actual game will be made by Bungie themselves, I don't see why the fiction wouldn't be a little more fleshed out. This extended version is a step up, but still not nearly as good as the ODST commercial. They should've emphasized how truly agonizing it is to become a Spartan, which didn't happen :(
Still, it's better than the shorter one, which isn't saying much.
One of my biggest complaints about Halo, is that the GAMES THEMSELVES don't do the lore justice.
Shit is complicated, yo.
Did I miss something in the mythos? I thought all Spartans were kidnapped and effectively cut off from whatever brief lives they had prior to being entered into the program (since they were abducted as children)?
Suddenly we have this guy who willingly puts his keycard in to start the injections at the table?
It's a great and powerful short piece, but from my understanding they messed up the established mythos...
I didn't really like the ending (same in both trailers). It felt kind of hasty in comparison to the rest of it.
Yeah that's what I was getting at, it's difficult I guess to produce more gate ways for the information to be fed to the player in such a linear experience but maybe they'll do something similar to ODST? At least some dialogue between the other members of the squad might help.
No, whats sad is that a great three minute trailer was cut down to one minute.
Spartans are pretty much brain washed as kids to obey orders and complete the mission. That's all they live for.
If someone ordered him to do that, no doubt he'd do it.
On topic, the movie is sorta decent, but the ODST one is still way better.
"'F*KING BORING!!' are actually two words, genious."
Exactly... which is why he said (in the very next sentence):
"Sorry that was two."
Actually according to 'Ghosts of Onyx', the Spartan III process was vastly improved over the Spartan II process and had very few failures allowing the production of much larger classes of 300 Spartans instead of starting with 70 carefully selected candidates and producing 30 usable Spartans. The Spartan III's were, as was stated, teen aged orphans who survived the glassing of colonies. They were not selected for specific rare genetic traits nor were they kidnapped and trained from the age of five or six.
Only the 3rd class of Spartan III's was 'psychotic' due to an addition that Kurt made to the process to enhance their chances of survival by allowing them to keep active while terribly wounded. Unfortunately it also resulted in psychosis so a reservoir of antipsychotic medication was implanted in the third class to counteract these side-effects. Kurt did this because Spartan III's tended to be used in mass numbers for suicide missions and tended to get wiped out.
Reach has since told us about Spartan III's that received Mjolnir armor instead of SPI armor and fought with the UNSC Army instead of the marines. They may well be survivors from the Spartan III classes suicide missions who were listed as lost but re-equipped, retrained, and reassigned into smaller commando groups like Nobel team..
In Evolutions, we see one of the Spartans choosing to undergo the augmentation process on his own terms. This, both the book and the trailer, demonstrate that these soldiers are so committed to saving humanity they'll freely sacrifice themselves for it. Bam. Nerd facts.
Can't explain the picture though, that seems more contrary to me.
cool video half awesome visuals half lame close up hallway walker
they sure are aiming young with this one, so no veteran squad, or does the juice make guy super awesome? if you haven't noticed I dont know halo at all.
