Destructoid got to check out Skate 3 last week but seeing as how we brought you a pretty detailed preview already, I'll just touch on a couple of things that weren't covered. Other than the new focus on team play online or offline, the other big part of Skate 3 is that you're playing to form your own brand. The better you do in the game, the more exposure your brand will get and the more boards you'll sell.
Skate 3 will also let you take pictures of yourself anywhere in the game and this plays into creating your own brand. If you nail tricks and objectives, you'll see your brand pop up all over the city such as billboards.
The one new feature Skate has needed since the original is the ability to create your own skate parks. Not much about the new feature was discussed, but you'll be able to create some pretty cool parks. About time!
And finally, Jason Lee has a role in the game. His character is Coach Frank and he's your teacher at Skate School where you'll learn the basics of skating. This character is actually based on Jason Lee's real alter ego of Coach Frank which you might find funnier if you're a skater.
Check out the new dev diaries above and after the jump along with some new screens for Skate 3 in the gallery.

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I absolutely loved the first Skate (yet to play the sequel).... but in this video, it sounds like they're struggling to create exitement - as if the game has little to offer that hasn't already been done.
Don't become the Tony Hawk franchise Skate.
Does anybody actually prefer those ramshackle and ganky user made skate parks (in any game) over the ones carefully made by the devs?
Loved Skate to death, really enjoyed Skate 2, largly ambivilant about Skate 3.
If you mean why can't he/she get off and run around they can. If you mean drive cars and stuff many-a Tony Hawk game has done that and failed.
Anyways Mr. Hamza I for one am quite excited for Skate 3 and appreciate this news.
This looks awesome. The Create a Skater looks even more complex, loving the Brand aspect, looks fun.
The problem is not that user made content is shitty, it's the organisation of that content that often fail to highlight the masterpieces. Look at Far Cry 2 user maps, the best emerge and are actually better than the originals. They used some sort of trueskill rating for the maps, not just a basic average of user rating.
every time i dropped off the big E in skate2 and went through the power tower. i could never land. no matter what.
if i can fall off a 30 story sign and transition into a jump why cant i land said jump?
but i did drop off the big E once and went into the tunnel on the left , it was awesome.
