Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
What a sad day, indeed.
But on the topic of the story, Jim... which console you hitting this on. Also, I call dibs on Sima Yi...
Then my comment would become a bit more clear.
Ninja Gaiden is reduced to a guest appearance in Dynasty Warriors?
People forget it because Ad Hoc Party only came out in North America officially. That, and PSP owners who also own a PS3 are a little bit rare.
Plus, even though other "ad hoc infrastructure" solutions are available (such as Xlink Kai through the PC), a third-party solution isn't always clear.
Also, PSPs are too thinly distributed outside of Japan. It's simply hard to find (and gather) enough PSP owners in the same place at the same time.
I call second dibs on Sima Yi when you log off.
"Guest appearance"?
Ryu has been incorporated into the Dead or Alive series since 1996, and the new Ninja Gaiden series is actually based off that new incarnation of Ryu.
I know, I own DOA4, I played as the Spartan but the appearance was forgettable and the game would have been just as good without her. And I love Halo, I should have been drooling over that.
And yet it just felt like marketing in my DOA4.
@Magnalon
We're talking about the Spartan now, not Ryu.
@ Josh Tolentino "...and PSP owners who also own a PS3 are a little bit rare."
Everybody I know that has one of those also has the other. Broad statements like that are silly. Unless you've got the proof to back it up, which is entirely possible. Though I doubt it.
And wtf Jim? You should've known about the Ad-Hoc Party thing! I give you a naughty "For shame!" and a wink for being sexy.
To be honest I will always give far more of a shit about any DW character than I ever will about Ryu. I mean, I've played DOA since the first game in the arcades and I've played every NG game - and I still fail to give a damn about Ryu. He's mind-numbingly dull and even in the games he stars in - Ninja Gaiden - he doesn't even get to be the most powerful character or anything (in all of the games in the DOA/NG universe, Ryu's just about the third most powerful ninja at best. Ayane is approximately infinitely more powerful than him). I just can't bring myself to care about a ''badass'' character with no personality who is weaker than a 16 year old girl.
It doesn't help that DOA4 online players ran him into the ground since he was the best character for abusing lag.
Fuck that. I was on the fence about which version to buy since I love the idea of DW online but was going to wait to see which console got a healthier online playerbase - but if it's a tossup between Ryu on the PS3 or even if it was nobody extra on the 360, I'm buying the 360. Other than the fact Ryu has no busiess being in China and would be a much better fit for the Samurai Warriors games (or in fact the Warriors Orochi games, what with the time warping and all), I don't really want to be playing my lovely DW and having it ruined by every ringsausage online prancing about with the pansiest ninja in history. I think this is the first time a ''bonus'' has actually made me not want to buy a certain version of the game. Well, if I could ahve bought DOA4 without the Spartan or SC4 without the Star Wars characters in it I would have, but there wasn't much choice about that.
dynasty warriors fucking sucks Jim. no amount of anything will convince me otherwise and perhaps no amount anything will convince you either.
Otherwise if they implement a little AI it would be amazingly fun.
Usedtabe, you'll have to show me who's who with these motherfuckers; my only experience with DW has been with giant robots.
I have to be honest - Fist Of The North Star Warriors will own all that has come before. Hayabusa ain't shit compared to Ken.
