Will Seven45 Studios turn you into a guitar virtuoso with its Power Gig: Rise of the Six String? The game will utilize a real six string guitar (designed for console use), and will feature "Power Chord Mode." How does it work? Audio Director Mashi Hasu plays show and tell in this latest developer diary.

"Our hope, is that after playing 'Power Chord' mode people are walking away with the fundamentals of guitar playing," he says.

Fun fact: Hasu is an accomplished six-string player, and a guitar professor at Boston's Berklee College of Music. Another fact: Power Gig is out October 19 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Here is Seven45's reasons why PowerGig is better than RB3. It's quite hilarious.

Dan Teasdale's response to that is more hilarious though.

Upon watching videos of Rock Band 3's Pro Mode, it's pretty easy to understand how the notes on screen correspond to the guitar.

Here, I'm not so sure.

This is great for everyone that aspires to be the next Billie Joe Armstrong but otherwise, who cares? Root & fifth power chords take all of half an hour to ''master''.

As soon as rb3 revealed their pro guitar, this became obselete. There is no way to compete.

It would be nice if one of them (PowerGig or RB3) had an option to turn the tab a quarter turn clockwise so it read like what you would see if you were actually trying to learn to play.

This game should have come out a year ago against GH5 and the Beatles. It might have had a chance. But coming out with features like this a week before its established competitor Rock Band is going to be a VERY difficult sell.

Also, I'm biased.

I know right...music games. Fuck, how dare people get enjoyment out of them. Same for platformers, action-adventure, FPS, sandbox, racing, real time strategy, puzzle...I guess you get my point

This game seems more of a "statement" than actually trying to make something made for fun. I don't approve. I see what you are trying to do, but it just doesn't work.

Brilliant. Walk away with the fundamentals of playing only 5 frets and no more than 2 notes at once.

True contender to Rock Band 3 here folks.

I thought this said at first "Here's how Power Gig's 'chode' mode works"

I just got this visual image of the game asking players to pop their collars up and go kick a kitten.

Power chords? Seriously?

Power chords are like "I couldn't really be bothered to learn guitar but can make a bit of a song out of these two finger cop-outs"

(Sorry Mr Cobain, as much as i love you, you were no virtuoso)

RockBand 3 pro-mode FTW.

This video brings to mind a saying: Too little, too late.

The spiritual successor to Rock Revolution will not disappoint at disappointing.
