Here's another one of those mind-blowing Nintendo moments
Insane videogame trivia that someone won't discover until years after the fact and Nintendo sure do go hand in hand. The prime example (I'm so sorry if this is new to you) is surely the "bushes in Super Mario Bros. are simply green-colored clouds" thing. The attached SMB 3 pic is quite the revelation as well. Continuing in this utterly awesome trend of genuinely neat game facts getting spread to the masses -- like all cool-but-ultimately-insignificant factoids -- through the Internet one blog post at a time is this discovery by ABoredGameDev on the NinDB Forums. Through intuition and probably some wild luck, he found out that the GameCube's menu music shares an uncanny resemblance to the bleeps and bloops of the Famicom Disk System BIOS -- when sped up a good twenty-five times. Stuff like this, especially knowing Nintendo's remarkable history, is just too ridiculous to be unintentional. Thank you, mysterious Internet person, for making life a tiny bit better with your magical finding. Cameos on the Gamecube [NinDB Forums via Reddit -- Thanks, Julio!] GameCube menu at normal speed:

Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)so super mario bros. 3 is a play, the gamecube system music is the disk system bios music, and mario is an abusive brother because Luigi likes to conserve energy by turning the lights out. Also: the Ocarina of Time title screen music is a flowery version of the song that plays when you use the flute in Zelda or SMB3. The Mario 3 thing was (to the best of my knowledge) my announcement from way back when. Someone picked up on it and made that little image macro after the fact. How does something like this even happen? When they're designing the system was someone like "make the menu music like the NES BIOS" and they came up with that? Who would even think to make that connection? This is incredible!
How does someone have so much time on his hands to discover something like this? Wow! :o Is there some kind of website that has (or tries to have) all of these types of things listed in one spot? I'd like to spend an afternoon giving my mind a thorough blowing. @SneakerElph - enjoy this. It'll keep you occupied for more than an afternoon. It's about as comprehensive as you can get.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232550 Note on the SMB3, all the levels are exit Stage LEFT, not right. Stage direction is indicated by the performer, not the audience. Watch people start going through every Nintendo song between 1986 and 2001 to see if this song shows up more. How does something like this even happen? When they're designing the system was someone like "make the menu music like the NES BIOS" and they came up with that? Who would even think to make that connection?
