Sucks that it seems to be 3D only but I'm sure I will go and watch it as I didn't mind the first one, it wasn't anything special but it somewhat tickled my fancy.
I thought there were rules on how often you should use that slo-mo drop sound. You use it once during a big reveal or a single action sequence, right?

I'm mostly excited. Apart from Vincent now being some cockend teenager dude-bro banging Heather, the casting seems spot-on (though how they'll explain Sean Bean playing Harry Mason when in the last film he was some bloke called Christoper, I don't know) and they've nailed the look of Silent Hill, even if it is soiled by the usual 3D bollocks.
If it's serviceable I'll see it in 2D. There are a ton of low budget theaters that show standard versions of 3D films. Look in your local area when it hits the box office.
Oh 3-D, you so unnecessary. This looks ok. I'll catch a matinee three or four weeks after it comes out and enjoy it for what it is rather than what I wish it would be.
3D is the best thing to come out of this universe, it is up there with great inventions like the Pippin and the N64.

That's fine, I'm not involved in the Stealth discussion (though I apprecciate his kind words). I don't want to be brought up in some little twitter war that doesn't involve me, especially when I don't even have a Twitter account to defend myself. I wouldn't have even known anything was said if it hadn't been pointed out to me by someone else.

I think the first was an ok movie, but it wasn't by any means a good adaptation, and it's weird how the first movie was so different but this ones looks like is trying too hard to be the same as the games.
Also i hate these gimmicky-fake-drama driven hollywood trailers, the only thing missing was the overly unnecesary background chorus.

I thought the first movie was almost as boring as Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Hollywood horror is flat out terrible, and I can't say I'm at all excited for this movie.

I think it looks pretty cool, actually. Not like the games, but good in its own right. The first one was good, I've seen it multiple times.
It didn't look too bad until the CG monsters show up, and turning Alyssa into the Ring Ghost is pretty stupid, but I guess the first movie added that into the mythos.

Why? Read up good old PH based on the original SH2 information, he's not exclusive to James, never was, it's PH's actions in SH2 that are exclusive, PH himself is the executioner of Silent Hill's past embodied as a monster, that's why he can appear in other stories, but with different goals.

Silent Hill was a good movie, even if it really did botch up some plot points that didn't really need changing (A man really wouldn't look for his kid in a "haunted" town?). Plus: Sean Bean.
This however.. looks.. ehhhhhhhhhhhh.. and while I'd like to blame the 3D for it, I think the over all story is to blame for it, mostly the terrible plot hole of how Sean Bean gets his daughter back, without the wife. I really hope this gets explained. Visual effects look like ass too, they aren't nearly as realistic as they were in the first -a total back pedal, probably because of the 3D

Looks like more crap pandering to kids that want to see more pyramid head. The first film had not merit beyond its average special effects. This looks like it will follow suit with terrible acting, decent special effects, and an abortion of a story.
There's a "Nurse Attack" clip floating around on youtube that is marginally more scary. You get to see an entire room full of nurses, so I think it was 2min of my life well spent.
I was waiting years for this movie since I thought the first one was decent but could definitely be improved upon. But now that its almost here, I find myself less excited for it then ever...
I don't understand why they chose SH3 for inspiration. aside from Homecoming, 3 is my least favorite of the franchise. Oh well, just as long as they don't ruin SH2 for me.

I really don't understand how anyone can say the first film was good. Sure it was absolutely gorgeous, but the script was fucking horrible, the acting by extension pretty bad too, and should silent hill really look "gorgeous"? The whole movie looked way too digital and clean. But that's not really the problem. Horrible horrible script. Relied on gore rather than creative creepiness.
I can't be the only one who loved the first Silent Hill movie? I thought it was fantastic and captured the spirit of the first two games perfectly.
Looks average, which i'm fine with, what really bothers me is the 90% chance that the ending will be another WTF type ending like the first movie just so they can pull a sequel in case it makes enough money.
@AceFlibble: Apparently Sean Bean plays two roles in this flick, according to IMDB. So Christopher Da Silva and Harry Mason might be the same person. Queue weird revelation and more of the Fonz jumping them sharks. It's all gone further into Fuckville with what little plausibility that the narrative had.

Funny that in the first they shove in an unneeded female character and here they throw in an unneeded male character. (Yeah Vincent is in the game but this ain't Vincent.)
They promised no nurses and no Pyramid Head, but they're all over the trailer... damn. Oh well... I just hope it's a better watch than the first movie, but I love the old stories and 3rd game so I'm obligated to go. God, even in the context of it's own universe it doesn't make sense. I'm guessing DaSilva changed his name to Harry Mason to protect her from the town, but where is her mother Rose?
So looks like they're pretty much doing Silent Hill 3s story with little changes. If done right I can get behind it. Silent Hill 3 wasn't the best, but it did have the best story I think.
To all Silent Hill fans. If you want to watch the perfect Silent Hill film it already exists and it's called Shutter Island by Martin Scorcese. I have trouble believing Scorcese wasn't trying to make a Silent Hill 2 adaptation but if he in fact didn't, that just proves great minds think alike. Go watch it please.

ok so im confused... in the first movie, the guys wife and daughter died, or were in the afterlife or whatever and sean bean was the main male character... so in this one he has a daughter, heather mason... but umm did he remarry or something? is this a reboot and they just really liked him for the role since, well to me its obvious, that he fits the role perfectly. its almost as confusing as the 5th RE movie having like 5 characters who died in it. i'll see it either way, both of them. but im still confused.
ok after fully watching, i also gotta say.. why did sean bean call her sharon? i thought her name is heather? damn i really gotta go play the silent hill games again. and whats with the resident evil Umbrella style cover over the amusement park ride. also.. why is pyramid head weidling the buster sword? doesnt he just weild a giant metallic sword "looking" thing thats all rusted and old looking? just so confused as to what i just witnessed.
