Now I know a lot of you guys aren't sold on the
Nintendo DSi. You're fine with your DS Lite. The lack of the Game Boy Advance slot is unacceptable. You're not sold on the SD storage or DSiWare. You don't like the idea of a device that can take a picture of both your face and crotch at the same time.
Whatever. I get it.
But this promotional video, found on the YouTube page of Toys R' Us UK, does a decent job of showing off the devices sexy new features. Sure, you have to be subjected to video footage of people -- many of them old enough to be some of your parents ... or grandparents -- having way to much fun with the damned handheld. And the promo is ridiculous "Nintendo-white" that you might have to wear sunglasses.
But damned if it doesn't make me want one, if only because it's shiny and new, and I sure do like shiny and new things. I think I have a $169.99 in change lying around that I can dig up before April 5. (Note the video shows a UK release date of April 3. You lucky British devils.)

Going to get a pro to air brush it the way I want.
Going to get a pro to paint over the scratch I have on my Triforce DS.
Going to lock up my Triforce DS in a safe.
It's already played around with cameras on Gameboy before and while it was pretty cool it was still a one-trick pony.
Nintendo should have just found a way to offer DSi downloadable stuff on to te regular DSi or perhaps even Wiiware ... something it hasn't done much with beyond making simple remakes of Dr. Mario and the Art Style games.
Pre-ordered today. Can't wait to play the new WarioWare and Katamari DSWare games.
Sorry dad your just going to have to buy your own.

I am not the only one who thought it was ridiculous to use a DSi as a phot frame right?
They've gone the route of Apple, with iterative hardware that with each iteration leaves the one behind less supported, can't say its a bad move but I'll have to skip some of the hardware upgrades. I guess the Wii will probably follow a similar path, creating a Wii HD that while playing Wii games with the same type of input overall hardware, it will be HD capable and have some new kind of input gimmick.
(All the other arguments against it stand, though.)
I suppose I COULD hack my PSP to play it.. or get an R4 But that would be.. "Bad"
That video was bliss. I love it. I want it.
Biggest draw is DS ware and SD Card (virtual console? no?) I really don't think we're going to see a new Nintendo Handheld for a little while. Thought the next year would be it for the DS, I'm guessing we'll get 3 more- unless it's another micro.
The audio stuff is actually interesting.
That system is amazing!
DSi?! Hmmmmmmmm...
So far, the only thing that looks really cool is the larger screens and slimmer size.
