I'm not going to pretend to understand Tekken anymore. Heihachi Mishima kills Kazuya Mishima in the first game. Kazuya then kills Heihachi and the cycle repeats with every game. Last I remember, Heihachi was killed but now he's back with black hair in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and he's working with Kazuya. Whatever, Namco Bandai. I'M OVER IT!
Oh, and there's a new mystery fighter joining the ranks. Hot.
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

there is no story in tekken.
demons, heirs, robots, animals. its just the same stereo-typical japanesse nonesense that most of the ps2 generation games had to suffer through and we have all said at one point,
"okay. this makes zero fucking sense, typewriter monkeys at least give us variation".
FUCK YES! I am so damn excited for this game and I have been waiting for this for a long time now! Also in before the Lucha chic has something to do with King and Armor King.
Fucking love tekken. They could improve the music from their last outing but Tekken 5 and Tekken 5:DR are still my most played games of last gen. I wasted alot of my life on that game.
Also, new character looks like young Heihachi, which is fucking awesome if it is.
A masked "mystery" character who is a female luchadore? I knew they were doing a crossover with Street Fighter, I wasn't aware that they were doing a crossover with Dead Or Alive as well now.
Blatant rip-off character and Heihachi's terrible new look aside though, I'm really looking forward to this. TTT was my joint-top game of the PS2 (DOA2 being the other) and one of the few PS2 titles I still play, plus it was the last good Tekken game. I reall hope this is good. It used to be that Tekken was only a bad game if you were a 2D fighter elitist who couldn't get to grips with 3D, then it became a genuinely bad game for everyone. A good Tekken game has been a long time coming and I hope the Tag format sorts the series out. They really shouldn't try to shoe-horn a plot in though, one of the thigns that made the first TTT so good was it just had every character in it and they didn't try to explain why, everyone was just there and got on with the fighting.
But hey, have they paid royalties or sth to Tecmo so they could include a Dead or Alive character? Neh. I'm joking. But I do agree with the fact this is a blatant rip-off.
I bet it will just be Tekken 6 with a tag feature slapped on it. Anyways, I'm not buying anything from Namco Bandai unless it's called Tales of Graces F and Tales of Xillia. If those aren't getting localized then they might as well keep their other mediocre games in Japan too.
I really don't care for tekken 6 that much, and it's on sale constantly for $10. This, however is a game I'm really looking forward to, but Namco's already fucking it up with their young Heihachi, who looks like old Heihachi and Harada's love child. Point is, I hope this isn't a precursor to other fuckups to come.
I can't believe it's almost 2011 and people still buy Tekken games... I mean... back on the PSX the competition was Battle Arena Toshinden... so I can understand why someone would prefer Tekken... but this is 2010... every single fighter made today is better than Tekken... what's wrong with you people?
I got Tekken 6 about a month ago for $10 from Amazon and it's still sitting on the shelf unwrapped. I'll get to it eventually, but Tekken Tag was definitely my favorite Tekken game. I just like that I don't have to take the franchise seriously to enjoy it. Street Fighter is my favorite, but if I don't sit in the challenge trials to learn strings of combos using muscle memory and timing, I won't get anywhere in that game. Tekken's much better if I just want to sit down and play for a half hour.

Also, La Mariposa?!
Now Tekken 3, and 5 those were amazing.

:D

Stealing ideas from other fighters isn't a new thing. I'm pretty sure Capcom put Rufus in SF4 just because T6 had Bob.
also i think its cool they went with a young heihachi look. the games non-canon so why not?
also tekken 6 is very good. everyone still plays the shit out of it in the arcades here in japan, as do i.
Notice the necklace...
