Here's a handful of Demigod screens for the DotA junkie in us all photo

As essentially the sole proponent of Demigod around these parts, I have done quite a few media-related posts for the real-time strategy/role-playing game hybrid. It's not gotten anywhere near the "we're hiding in your bushes" level Southpeak has reached with Jim, but I'm not taking any chances after today.

Unlike previous screens that have come our way, there are a few here that show off Demigod's simple, yet effective HUD. As far as I know, this is the first time the HUD has actually been on full display, but my memory has been fuzzy lately.

Between this and Dawn of War II, I think I am going to be set for the next six months or so, as far as PC gaming goes. What about you, Dtoiders? Are any of you still as obsessed with Demigod as I am?

If I had a PC that could run it, yes, I would be pumped for it. Unless there's a mac version being released, it's only on the fringe of my radar.

this is not the dota cousin/clone i've hoped to see, but it still looks interesting.

I'm in the same boat as grahfkhun. If I had a PC that would run it, I would be all over it. The idea looks like a pretty solid one in its own right as well.

Agreed with grafkhun, but also...uh, I've never done any DotAing at all. Ever. D:

Waiting to see how the reviews and fan reaction fare toward the game but I'm keeping an eye on it.

The system requirements aren't that high but you do need to have had bought a mid-to-high gaming computer within the past 5 years.

I haven't played DotA but always have wanted to try it. I think this should do.

Steps to playing Dota:

Buy Warcraft 3 and the expansions Frozen Throne if you haven't already.

Make a Battlenet account and get the initial patch.

Then download the Dota map at GetDota.com. Put it in your C drive where the other WC3 maps are at in a download folder.

Hop on Bnet and look for a Dota game. 5v5 APEM = 5 real players versus 5 real players in an All Pick Easy Mode match. AREM = all random.

It's not everyone's type of game, but a lot of you are missing out.

I hope this game turns out close to/as good as DOTA since I stopped playing it ages ago and really didn't want to get back into it since I'd forgotten all the tactics.

@ Fronz

I'd do that, but SFIV and Dragon Age: Origins are coming out, and I still have to buy Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge and Dead Space >.<

God, I've probably spent at least 300 hours on Warcraft III custom games alone. So much fun.

I can't wait for Demigod! It's pretty much the only PC game I'm excited for this year, with the rest mostly sequels or other games or well-known gameplay elements anyway. And I need something shiny to test the new rig ;)

I'm probably almost as obsessed, especially now that Dragon Age is delayed. Gas Powered Games is a great company and this looks like a great new IP from them. I feel lots of other games aren't giving it the reports it deserves, thanks for keeping up on it for us!

My interest in this kinda lost it's steam when I heard the dota team were doing their own game. Obviously I've got a lot more faith in that. Still, Demigod looks awesome.

warning to anyone picking up dota for the first time, it's brutal. Ridiculous learning curve and unrelenting community. Great game though.

I'm semi-interested in this. I was never that great at dota, but I still enjoyed it somewhat. This ought to be a fun breath of fresh air for the the dota-esque gameplay.
