So, as you could have suspected, Resident Evil Zero for the Wii looks identical to the GameCube game that came out in 2002. It is, after all, a port.

What should you expect? Well, Resident Evil Zero, really. It supports the Wii Remote and nunchuk, but offers no motion or pointer controls. You might as well be playing with a GameCube controller. Oh -- if you want to do that, you can, too.

Resident Evil Zero is a good game; not the best of the series, but good. You could always pick up the GameCube version which will play quite nicely in your Wii, but your other option is to wait until next year when it's available on one of these fancy DVDs I keep hearing about.

What's your Resident Evil Zero plan?

Since I have Zero on Gamecube just going to stick with that.

Also in my opinion RE:Zero was much better than REmake mainly since you didn't have to worry about burning every zombie corpse you came across.
That got a bit annoying until you started mastering headshots and using greandes.

I think the main selling point for these is that it runs at 480p, and is released with 16:9 support.

REMAKE and RE0 played on a wii with the proper cords on a Hi-def LCD/Plasma don't look too pretty when stretched.

I welcome these releases

They DON'T include wide screen or 480p support unfortunately. It's the same exact game, but instead of two disc, it's one.

I never even finished it, I still have the GC version I got when I bought the GC 3-pack with it, RE4, and RE:Remake. I'll finish it... someday, but I won't be buying this.

Its bullshit that's what RE:remake and RE:zero Wii ports are. At lease when Nintendo ports there old Gamecube games to the Wii they add enhancements to the games themselves, like widescreen and such. Why can't Capcom follow suit?

I thought it was required of anything on the Wii to support 480p and widescreen? Sort of how Sony and Microsoft used to demand at least 720p resolution from games on their platform?

This gets me in the mood to play RE4 again. All RE games do that. It's why I never pick new ones up anymore. I get the itch, save that blondes dumb ass again, and I'm good.

I LOVE RE0! Maybe not the best in the series (that's probably Code Veronica), but it's damn close. Though I can see how Resident Evil "purists" wouldn't be so convinced since it's the game that got the series started toward the current co-op action stuff they did with RE5.

killatia: They'd have to re-render the entire game to support widescreen since the backgrounds are pre-rendered video. Which isn't just a matter of flipping a switch and running the renderer for a couple of days, they'd have to re-frame every angle as well. That wouldn't be easy or cheap. I'd be down if they wanted to do a full remake with the RE5 engine and make it co-op, but that's not going to happen.

Controlling two
characters with the Gamecube controller was fucking insanity. Good game but......fuck.

..... obviously it appears that there are no controller differences, and for that matter, no differences at all. Makes this whole thing pointless because you can play the gamecube remake on the wii anyways.

No, this is way too much of a stretch for a rerelease.

I passed on this when it first came out on the Cube. I might get this, maybe. Or find the GameCube version for cheap. Or, you know, just not bother at all. Could go either way.

I got stuck in RE0 and need to start again. The characters need to be in the opposite places and I don't think I can swap them round. Something to do with the roof caving in and getting something out of a canister in an old operating theatre.

MentalBeaver: The same exact thing happened to me as well. And the only way to fix it was to do some back tracking(And I had to fight some Zombie monkeys)... I got annoyed and just returned the game at the point. I'd like to kick whoever made that puzzle in the face.

I stand corrected. hpv is right in that both resident evil wiimakes DO NOT SUPPORT WIDESCREEN. However they do support Progressive scan and an auto scaling to 4:3 feature. Using the wii's Backward comp method stretches the image to fit. I just think long time gamers have to realize that the wii has a +2 million user install base, and they don't advertise/sell gamecube games at bestbuys, futureshops or walmarts anymore. These RE classic games were cheap to port, which probably gives them a good profit per product sold.
With a $20 price tag, i just see good business sense

If they release the RE2 port I will prob get that. It's not cheap used. If they release it for 20 bucks I bet it would sell.

I didn't like RE:0 the first time on Gamecube, I suspect I won't enjoy this port either. I'm tired of Gamecube to Wii ports. They are all pretty damn silly, except for RE4 and Metroid Prime Trilogy those were worthy purchases.

I actually liked RE Zero a lot. The partner-swapping mechanic worked pretty well, but the story didn't add much to the series. Zero also had some pretty lackluster enemy monsters (bugs, monkeys, bats, etc.).

Capcom has consistently delivered unimpressive RE ports (like PSone RE 2&3 for Gamecube at $40 each), so I doubt they'll give consumers any new updates or a break on the price this time either.

lol wut? what's the point? I was hoping we'd get some motion controls for these inevitable ports, maybe they'd make the game playable for me, like RE4.

I got RE0 in a two-pack bundle with REmake, and I never got around to playing it. I find it odd that the only additions to this port are progressive scan (which, actually, the originals on Gamecube had, and I was one of the few people to use it) and Wii controls which I have no desire to use. It really makes you wonder why they're even bothering with this, unless it's just because of the outdated Gamecube branding.
