Am are seeing things or do the sprites actually look high res? I know it's hard to say from a trailer, but that would certainly be appreciated. I am psyched for this game, but I am sure it'll be a while until we see it here.
Yeah the lo-res versions of the sprites always spoilt the look of D3 for me, so I'm excited to see this one in the flesh. Looks like they've got much better balance between 2D / 3D assets this time (mainly due to the increased resolution, but also the colours seem to match better). Colour me intrigued!
Looks awesome! The sprites have finally caught up to last gen. Maybe I'll be able to beat Disgaea 2 before this gets localized.
Sounds like you and I are on the same page about the series. I think the Prinnies themselves only count as underappreciated if that second platformer never makes it over here, though.

Looks like they finally updated the sprites to HD (and it looks great). Might actually give this one a go finally.
Good god am I pumped for this, especially for prinny-hat girl with the frickin NAIL BAT! I'm SO glad they went HD with the sprites, and hope to all things holy that they utilized most of the space on the blu ray.

Prinny Girl looks a bit silly but the rest of the characters look like they mean business. Hopefully that means a more serious plot. Disgaea 3 struggled under the weight of its illogical main conceit and wrapped up 90 percent of its interesting plot elements in a single nonsensical cutscene. I loved the gameplay but the story was very disappointing. Hopefully Disgaea 4 will be a return to form.

I bought Disgea 3 recently.. figured I'd give it a shot. I love games like FF Tactics (and most of its iterations) so I thought I'd give this a shot. Holy holy, I played it twice and can't force myself to turn it back on again. I have no idea what people see in it, but god bless them. The dialogue is soooo bad.
Really? I thought the dialogue was hilarious, as was the voice acting. Disgaea 3 was the first one I'd played, by the way.
I don't know about this upcoming one, though. I'll never even do all that can be done in the third, should I really get excited about another game that can eat infinite amounts of time?

The dialog was pretty boss on 2, 1 sucked and 3 was terrible. What really bothers me are the terrible graphics on 3, and the incessant grinding on all three.
No way, HD sprites!? It's only taken NIS, what, half a decade or so to get with the times?

My favorite so far is Disgaea 2. I've put like 300 hours into that game. Haven't finished D3 because I can only play it when I'm around a friend who owns a PS3. Maybe I'll have one by the time this comes out.
I'm very very happy with these new graphics. They are absolutely perfect for Disgaea. I was so afraid they'd go and try to go 3D and lose all the game's charm. Now I just hope the game can finally match the quality of the original Disgaea and everything will be golden.

Seems like a definite improvement over Disgaea 1. I may consider getting another of these games. First they might want to port it to 360 or PC so that consideration is higher on the to-buy list.
