Here is some Rocket Knight artwork for you photo

With all the talk about Sonic 4, it's easy to forget that Konami is gearing its own downloadable retro reboot with Rocket Knight. Of course, that's also partially thanks to the fact that Konami's barely mentioned the bloody thing since its announcement.

Fortunately, we've been given a healthy reminder today thanks to some new art assets that have dropped. It's not much to go on, but it's certainly something at the very least. Make sure you check out the pictures. Or don't, if you don't want to. We're not really telling you what to do.

Holy crap. These pics made me realize that Sonic & The Black Knight is a poor man's Rocket Knight.

Anyway, I'll be keeping this on my radar. Now Sparkster's a rodent with attitude. Not like that other blue bastard...

I'm a little concerned about it being developed by climax. I didn't really like SH Origins and only played SM for an hour or so. But hey, the RK games were feckin great and this'll only be 10-15 bucks, so I'm definitely getting it. Unless *gasp* orson scott card contributes!!!!! noooooooooooooooooo

@Birthmark Destructor

It's either that or the sweaty, grunting, 'roid-abusing beefcake-obsessed era of today. Pick your poison.

Because some people can tell the difference between innocent cartoonish animal characters in videogames and creepy sexualized furry wet dreams that continually invade Sonic and Star Fox.

Also, if those pieces of concept art scream "furfag" to you, you're probably no older than fourteen.

I dig Sparkster's new art, but what's up with Shadow the Hedgehog there? He looks like he's cosplaying as a Space Marine.

20 in body, 5 in mind it seems.

I wouldn't pick Gears of War over a pile of rancid dog shit.

Original fun characters are better than cookie cutters any day.

What, because he's based on an animal?

Last I checked, in that era, sonic didn't pilot large mechs and shoot around with a rocket pack killing lizards with a sword.

Did you not have a childhood or something?

Yet somehow, the constant stream of sweaty burly men don't rip each other off?

It doesn't matter if they cashed in. As long as the game was good.

And Rocket Knight Adventures was a DAMN good game, easily one of the best for the Genesis.

News flash: 95% of videogames are rip offs.

Anyway, back on topic, do we have ANY sort of window when this might drop?

I want to play it, hard.

...

wait, lizards were sparkster for genesis.

RKA had PIGS. Pigs.

Yeah. Good game.

Why did they make the art for this game so fucking ugly?

Yeah but Yahtzee hates everything. Haven't you seen the one time he was nice to a game? Not his most popular video.

Although I actually can wait for this, I loved the original Rocket Knight Adventures. Bring it, Konami. You've got a tough benchmark set.

Hmmm, I find the concept art to be lacking. I hope the designs for the enemies/ level assets fare better. Either way, if the game plays well, I am all over this. I have been singing RKA's praises since I was 12.
