Here are your Assassin's Creed 2 PC specs photo

Love Assassin's Creed 2? Want to play it on PC? Enjoy looking at numbers that bear no significance to normal people? Well strap yourself in and prepare for your wildest dreams to come true! Ubisoft has today revealed the technical specs for Assassin's Creed 2 on PC. You can look at them with your face.

The PC version of Assassin's Creed 2 will launch with the DLC episodes Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities. There will be a "Black Edition" with additional content that will be available as a digital download only for $64.99. The regular edition will be for download and retail, costing $59.99.

Hit the jump for the full technical specs. You'll notice the game needs at least 1.5 GB of RAM. Fortunately, however, my PC has enough going spare that I could probably give it 4.5.

1.5GB MINIMUM?

What the hell is that being used on? Crysis on max only uses up 1.2GB, and not even the app I'm testing right now, completely unoptimised uses that much. Jesus.

Yes, I only have 2GB. Sucks for me. Everything else is higher than recommendeds though.

Wait, I thought PC versions of 360/PS3 games were cheaper? Oh well, not like I have the specs to even run the game on the minimum settings anyhow...

@JonB I'm pretty sure they are saying you should HAVE 1.5 gigs of ram, not that it Uses 1.5 gigs. Thats why the number changes for vista and win7.

"I hate how PCs outdate so fast. I just can't keep up."

That better fucking be sarcasm. A two-year-old machine could run Assassin's Creed II.

And once again, LOL at the higher price. That's pretty bullshit considering how you can get the console version of the game for $40 right now, and by March it'll probably be $30.

I see what you did there, TPL.

Could I just call you PL? Or is that too casual?

I'm sorry. Did I make everything awkward?

I have a 5 year old laptop and I'm starting college soon, so I'll have to get a MacBook (it's required). I just can't afford anything at the moment. So no, not sarcasm, just being poor.

@ Jon B - I assume the extra ram is for quick caching and swapping of areas. Yeah, Crysis uses around 1.2 gb of ram (in DX9 mode, less in DX10) to start with, but thatll go up as high as it can (it maxed out for me at 1.6, when I had 2gb) after a level or two, and then you get lovely stuttering from accessing the hard drive. AC 2 will probably be the same, only perhaps worse since its not as linear.

As for whether it 100% needs it, or if they could do a better job of optimizing, well, we'll never know...

Yeah, uh, I really hope more people don't see AC2 and MW2 doing this and thing "oh hey great idea let's charge those idiot PC gamers $60 for this shit!"
KorJax's Avatar - Comment posted on 01/25/2010 22:18

Yeah I don't understand why they think this will sell at a $60 price point on PC because it won't.

Hell I work at a Target, we've sold hardly ANY PC versions of MW2. It wasn't until we did a sale for $49.99 that the spot on the shelf is empty.

Most PC gamers and gamers in general think the price of games is too high to warrent a want to purchase them, ESPECAILLY when the game is ported almost 6 months from it's first release.

And frankly, the only reason why it almost worked with IW is because MW2 is more popular than god.

Assassin's Creed 2 is not in fact more popular than god, and therefore will not sell shit on PC. Especially considering most people avoided buying the first game until it went on sale for $5 on steam. Oops lol!

@Doomsday Forte: you complain? i welcome you to the EU, where $1 = €1

We pay the equivalent of $96 for a 360/ps3 game. A standard regular edition game.

I see what you're getting at, but still, the games I'm playing have a far reduced "minimum" RAM to that and look better and have more advanced physics etc. This is a MINIMUM after all, I'd expect 1.5GB of a recommended spec.
I guess I'm just fickle after they botched the PC version of AC1.

And I can't believe I missed that last line. Hahaha.

@ KorJax:

I completely agree about game prices. Honestly, I know games still sell today, but I think we'd see games bought more (minus this crummy economy right now), if they were cheaper.

Heck, why do so many game companies complain about used game sales? Why don't they compete by being cheaper?

I don't even know if that makes sense. I guess if game companies would scale back, they'd do better, and could make their games cheaper...

$60 is a lot for a PC game, when prices are usually $50 or less. However, what's stupid is that the price is STILL $60 for the digital download. That isn't at all justifiable.

I can understand why games are priced like they are. Making games is an expensive investment, especailly if it's a AAA title.

However they gotta realize that when games are priced like this, I only buy two to three games a year at the most, and when they start charging $10 more for what's essentually an older title that is "good" but nothing to write home about, I'm not going to buy it.

Hell last time I actually bought a full priced PC game was ArmA 2 almost a year or so ago. 99% of the time I get my games either through gift cards, or preorder bonuses (<3 that 33.75 deal steam had to preorder Borderlands with 4 other people).

The XBOX 360 is a mediocre PC from 2005. If this game can run on that, it should be able to run on a PC with specs slightly higher. This is just completely insane. Old Xbox 360 games that were also for PC usually required 512MB RAM, 2.0GHz CPU SINGLE CORE, 64-128MB video card Radeon 9xxx & GeForce3.

They just don't care anymore. They do the sloppiest ports possible, throw some shitty DRM on it, charge extra money for no reason, and blame piracy when it doesn't sell. I hate these people.

Between the higher price 3+ months after release on console, the higher requirements and DRM fiascoes i have to say companies have some major balls to blame the declining sales of PC games on us.

AC2 is not worth that much money, sorry. Fun game, but I think it suffers from "open worldyness" and it shows with the tomb levels they put in. Which happen to be the best part of the game imo. If your going to make a game about assassinations, get some better AI and some designed levels.
