Here are our first screens for Tony Hawk: Shred photo

Finally, we get a look at what Tony Hawk: Shred is going to loo like. With Ubisoft's snowboarding franchise head, Shaun White, heading into skateboarding it only makes sense that Activision's skateboarding king, Tony Hawk, would lend his name to a game that will feature snowboarding. Of course, we knew that before, but now we know that it will be cartoony cell-shaded skateboarding and snowboarding.

I must say that these screens look pretty nice, and if you have the board from Tony Hawk: Ride it'll be great to dust it off, set it up, play Shred on it for about ten minutes and then remember why it was collecting dust in the first place and forsake it for a standard controller. I'm not really falling for the supposed tighter controls making that stupid board anymore fun.

It's a bit odd that this is the first we're seeing of Shred because it's coming out later this year, but it's Activision so I'm sure the marketing machine will get rolling any time now.

I won't say 1. I hope they can make it as engaging as coolboarders. =p

But will it be better than the SSX series?

If it doesn't suck, I'm glad to see this supports a standard controller.

However, it won't touch the best snowboarding game since the Amped franchise, Stoked: Big Air Edition.

That's a funny typo because this game will probably be a shit house.

If something possessed you to buy Ride plus board, I've seen it for around $50 new at some places, compared to $130 on day one...

Yeah.

My logic on this one:

EA made SSX and Skate. Skate kicked the crap out of the tony hawk series. SSX should do the same, especially when snowboarding is an after thought in Shred.

I'll give it a shot to be fair but looking at how low the tony hawk franchise has come... I doubt I'll be tearing it up like I would an SSX game.

Pretty easy to see why they're doing this. Shaun White is trying to get into the Skate games field at Ubisoft, Activision is digging back with their big extreme sports guy. Here's hoping no million dollar controller this time

This news-type information only serves to remind me how much I miss the SSX series. SSX3 still stands, in my mind, as the best snowboarding game ever made, and the fact that there seems to be an opening for a great snowboarding game to come out on the market and sell bunches and bunches really makes me hope that someone at EA will get their butt in gear already.

ugh. somebody kill this franchise off for a while please. it needs a rest. I used to look upon the name Tony Hawk so fondly and now each new game makes me throw up a little.

Love you, Tony.

If EA/Blackbox were making a snowboarding sim, I'd have some faith. I don't really trust anyone else to get near it, much less Tony "peripheral" Hawk.
